After two nasty, disheartening matches, nobody was expecting the Sixers to show any signs of life in Game 6, especially in a hostile arena.

But, much to the team’s credit, they were able to weather the storm and win the game, forcing a Game 7 against the young and hungry Hawks.

With just one more win standing between them and the Eastern Conference Finals, the 76ers community came alive on Friday, celebrating the fact that their team narrowly avoided elimination.

The hero of the game was Tyrese Maxey, who finished 16 points that included some huge three-pointers down the stretch.

As for Simmons, he only finished with 6 points on 33% shooting. Though he dealt with foul trouble for most of the game, his performance did not help ease the criticisms going his way.

Game 7 is less than 48 hours away, and it’s really anyone’s guess who will come out on top. In what has been a wild, bizarre, and unpredictable series, it’s only fitting that it would come down to one final game.

The Sixers have the talent to pull it off, but can Simmons step up and deliver? If not, even if they do advance, it’s unlikely they’ll get very far.
