When LeBron James joined the Lakers in 2019, the city had dreams of glory and glamour akin to the “Showtime” Lakers of old. Two seasons later, however, and those dreams have yet to become reality.

Amid a worldwide pandemic, BLM protests, and several injuries to key players, this season poses an especially interesting challenge for James.

But, according to Skip Bayless, it’s also the perfect opportunity for the King to prove himself and build his case for being the GOAT.

It remains to be seen what LeBron can do this postseason. At 35-years-old, he’s still among the best players in the NBA, averaging 25.7 points, 10.6 assists, and 7.9 rebounds per game on 49.8% shooting.

In the West alone, though, he’s got steep competition that includes the Clippers, Rockets, Nuggets, and Jazz. Without two of their guards, their rotation will suffer and LeBron will have to carry more of a load on both ends of the floor.

Indeed, if he wins it now, it may be the best chip he’s ever won. But it’s not going to be easy and it will be interesting if he can rise to the occasion…
