Skip Bayless continued his tirade against Russell Westbrook and singled him out as the reason why the LA Clippers would lose the first-round playoff series to the Phoenix Suns.

Midway into the game, the analyst took to Twitter, saying, I picked the Clippers to win the West before the season. I abandoned ship when they signed Westbrick, clearly trying to show they can win w him after the Lakers failed to. I STAND BY WHAT I SAID: SUNS WILL WIN THIS SERIES BECAUSE THEY NOW HAVE KD & CLIPS ARE STUCK WITH RUSS.”

For all the slamming, Westbrook had the last laugh after the Clippers notched up a 115-110 win to go 1-0 in the series. The latter had a torrid shooting night going 3-for-19, but he made up for it with some stellar defense to prevent the Suns from making a comeback.

On his part, the analyst did have one compliment for the 34-year-old, before switching back to support the Suns. But safe to say he will continue his Russ roast well into the series.

Russell Westbrook Makes Up For His Poor Shooting With An Incredible Defensive Effort

He may have just 9 points to show for it, but Russell Westbrook added 10 rebounds and 8 assists to his tally, and five of his offensive boards paved the way for the Clippers to storm back in the fourth quarter.

Westbrook was visibly frustrated with his shooting, but head coach Tyronn Lue had words of encouragement and support for his guard. Per CBS Sports, “I told him during the game, ‘Your scoring is not that important,'” head coach Ty Lue said. “Don’t get frustrated with missing shots. You bring us way more than just scoring the basketball. Don’t let that affect your game.”

All said, Westbrook will be keen to put his woeful shooting night behind him. While they may have had the lead now, the Suns are more than formidable, and the Clippers will need the former MVP to contribute substantially on the offensive end. With Paul George ruled out for the remainder of the series, the onus is on Westbrook to deliver on both ends of the floor.
