Slovenian fans wish Dallas Mavericks’ superstar Luka Doncic to leave the franchise, and they seem supremely confident that he would make the move at some point.
The discussion stemmed in the wake of the 23-year-old speaking about his future as a Maverick ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Taking to Twitter, one of the fans felt that clock was ticking when it came to Doncic’s time with Dallas. The tweet also saw responses from fans who echoed a similar sentiment.
If you ask Slovenians most wish Luka would leave Mavericks… And that should be very worrying for Cuban and whole Mavs FO, because Luka does care about Slovenia and his fans.
Still enough time… Luka is 100% commited to Mavs right now. But the clock will soon start ticking.

It’s funny, I kept trying to tell most Mavs fans that the moves they are making are not helping their case in the long run. Another year is going to pass, which is another year closer to Luka possibly leaving us. Call me pessimistic, but this looks like LeBron/KG situation. https://t.co/w9gNfZw9wN

It’s been ticking….he won’t spend his 30th bday in a Mavs uni and that makes me sad. Maybe before his max is up he can win one ring. But this group ain’t it. https://t.co/s5FGYFp6I3

I’ve been in this camp for awhile. I’m sure Luka will leave Dallas, but it’ll be for lack of winning and Mark Cuban. https://t.co/yjKgDiHegp

My hope is that a conversation was had this offseason about the lack of flexibility and assets, so he knows this is a transition year and isn't too upset.
Think we have no choice but to hope the mavs can do enough to contend in 2024, but you're absolutely right. https://t.co/GEB6hOhx4Y

The scary truth…Luka deserves to win an NBA championship and if that is not with the Mavs then so be it 🤷🏼♀️ https://t.co/ESUVKG0Fn6

At the time of this writing, Doncic is in the midst of a whopping season averaging 34.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists.
Luka Doncic Opens Up About His Future With The Dallas Mavericks
Ahead of the start of the season, Luka Doncic shed light on his future with the team. In an exclusive with MARCA, the guard confirmed that his main objective was to win a ring with Dallas.
However, he also added that an uncertain future might play a part in the decision. He signed the richest deal in franchise history. His $207 million extension will keep him under contract with Dallas until 2027.
During the interview, the 23-year-old hoped that he would win with Dallas (via Mavs Moneyball)
“I do not plan on changing my objective stay with and win in Dallas. Although of course, in future nothing is known, but my idea and I hope to accomplish win in Dallas.”
The fans perhaps will feel that Doncic will also look for a roster that would complement him richly as opposed to carrying the side throughout the season.
Head coach Jason Kidd has already stressed about his high usage rate and should he decide to stay with the Mavericks, the front office will hope to build a more competitive roster around him to take some of the load off him as they gun for their second title after 2011.
