Speculation Rises After Gregg Popovich Sells His San Antonio Mansion

2 Min Read

Much has been made about the future of world-renowned basketball coach Gregg Popovich, After over two decades of success with the Spurs, the inevitable downfall of the team has finally arrived, and many think it will lead to Pop’s departure.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know the Nets are rumored to have a strong interest in him.

However unlikely it may seem, a partnership between Pop and the Nets have been hinted at for weeks now, and his latest activity may indicate he’s preparing for a change.

According to outkick.com, Popovich has put his San Antonio mansion back on the market.

Gregg Popovich tried to sell his massive San Antonio house in 2019, but pulled it off the market January 1, 2020. The house is back on the market with a lower asking price and now Popovich is rumored to be a candidate for the Brooklyn Nets job. Downsizing or leaving town mode? That’s the big question right now for a 71-year-old future hall of famer who has called San Antonio home since 1994 when he took the Spurs general manager job.

The Spurs seem to be entering a crossroads for their future. After failing to make the playoffs for the first time in decades, they have to decide whether to re-tool their roster or completely blow it up.

After all these years, Pop may not want to put himself in a position where he’s coaching a lottery or mid-level team. As he closes out an amazing run, what better way for him to go out than helping the Nets win their first title in franchise history?

It’s only a matter of time before we find out if there’s any truth to these rumors but, until then, we’ll just have to keep on guessing.
