Steph Curry Tells Dwyane Wade That Aaron Gordon Should’ve Won The Dunk Contest

Stephen Curry made the case for Orlando Magic star Aaron Gordon on Friday when he joined an Instagram live with Dwyane Wade. They had the chance to talk about several topics, but one of the best moments of the live stream came when Curry told Wade that Gordon was the rightful winner of the 2020 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

Back in February, Wade was one of the judges of the contest. In the last round of the competition, Aaron Gordon was facing Derrick Jones Jr., who happens to be a former teammate of Wade. In the last dunk of Gordon, Flash gave him a 9 after a pretty difficult dunk over Boston Celtics’ giant Tacko Fall. That score gave the victory to Derrick Jones Jr. and raised a lot of criticism around Wade.

The former shooting guard talked about all the comments and memes he gets after that infamous moment. He became a meme unintentionally and people won’t stop making those claims any time soon.

“I have so many people comment on everything I do like ‘I give that a 9 out of 10’ and I’m all: Do you know that a 9 out of 10, I’d take that any day of the week. Absolutely, any day of the week man,” Wade shared.

Curry addressed this situation, telling Wade that AG should have won the tournament instead of DJJ.

“That dunk was not his best but he should have won. He had a better body of work. I understand the dilemma. I just know Aaron Gordon should’ve won,” Steph said.

This is not the first time Curry talks about this on camera. Earlier this month, he took a shot at Wade after losing a trivia quiz against his brother Seth on Instagram live. He wasn’t so happy with the judging process and compared the situation to what Gordon lived with Wade.

“The game show is officially over,” the elder Curry said. “Seth Curry with the win. Is this like when D. Wade gave Derrick Jones the Dunk [Contest]? No, it ain’t like that. Maybe it is.”

Both NBA superstars were accompanied by their wives, who were very involved in their exchanges. At some point, they held a cook-off challenge. These are the things we’re watching while NBA remains in hiatus. We get to know more about our favorite players’ lives while they make bold claims about the current state of the league or any trending topic in the association.
