Stephen Curry Doesn’t Think Team USA Has Played Their Best Basketball Yet

Stephen Curry has made it clear that Team USA still hasn't played their best basketball through five exhibition games.

Stephen Curry reflected on Team USA completing their run of exhibition games ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, going 5-0 through games played on three different continents. Some of these wins have been too close for comfort, with Curry remarking that Team USA hasn’t played their basketball just yet.

“We’ve learned we are beatable if we execute the details of what teams know they have to do to beat us. Extra possessions, taking care of the ball, fouling too much. That has nothing to do with our offensive game. Obviously, Bron been taking over in the fourth quarter and give us a huge bump, but the offensive game., we haven’t played our best offensive game yet.”

Steph believed Team USA just needs to lock in on both ends of the court and put teams away without committing careless mistakes.

“If we lock in defensively and rebound, nobody can really beat us, that’s how we’ve been coming back these last two games. Just execute the details and play solid, hard-nosed basketball, and we’ll be fine.”

Curry has been one of three Team USA players to have started every game, joining LeBron James and Joel Embiid as the core of the team. Kevin Durant is also supposed to be a major part of the team but hasn’t been healthy through the five exhibitions so far.

Steph came into Team USA after averaging 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists last season, a year where the Warriors missed the Playoffs. Given the major changes in the Warriors locker room over this summer, Curry will hope to bring home a Gold medal before entering what could be one of the most challenging seasons of his career.

Stephen Curry Is Making His Olympic Debut

The 2024 Paris Olympics will see the 36-year-old Stephen Curry make his debut in the Olympics, having not represented the team in years prior. He told Fadeaway World about how the team feels and how he personally feels about making his Olympic debut.

“It’s still early. We’re just over a week in and continue the vibes of figuring out the strengths of this team, and how we need to play. It’s been an amazing experience so far. The energy of this group, a lot of guys who have accomplished a lot of things in their basketball careers, and it just seems like we’re having fun playing the game.”

“That’s the cool part about having fun. You put agendas aside, you put the ego aside, well you don’t put the ego aside but you bring the healthy ego of who you are, but you put aside everything other than winning. We talk about it every day. Hopefully, we can show it when we start. Everything around the Olympics, I’m like a kid in a candy store because I’ve never experienced it before.”

Curry has been a supportive team player throughout the exhibitions, particularly hyping up old rival LeBron James, especially after his fourth-quarter brilliance in the last two games.
