Following Team USA’s 92-86 win over Germany, German head coach Gordon Herbert spoke to the media about the loss. He joked about LeBron James taking over the fourth quarter, talking about him like he was a relatively unknown player. Herbert reflected on the loss, noting that he felt the team played well at different points of the game.

“First quarter, they had us back on our heels. We had a tough first quarter. I thought we regrouped some in the second quarter. I thought the third quarter, we played our best basketball, we played with good tempo. Somebody named LeBron James made some pretty good plays at the end.”

LeBron James had a sensational performance in today’s game against Germany. He scored 20 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal. James would end up outscoring the entirety of the German team in the final four minutes of the game to help Team USA seal the win.

Anthony Davis lauded LeBron James for his performance, even joking about how old he is yet still playing at a high level. LeBron James has cemented himself as a starter for Team USA, alongside Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid. He will be one of the key players for Team USA as they look to make a deep run in the Olympics.

Team USA selected LeBron James to be one of the flag bearers for the entire American Olympic contingent at the opening ceremony in Paris. It is one of the highest honors afforded to any Olympic athlete in the country.

LeBron James’ Legacy Is Being Cemented Further

LeBron James has already established himself as one of the greatest players of all time. But with each passing game and incredible performance, James only builds his case to be the greatest of all time. Recently, LeBron James shared a quote of his own, saying that he is always looking to be the GOAT whenever he is on the court.

James winning his fourth Olympic medal will establish himself as the second-most men’s Team USA player of all time, tied with Carmelo Anthony, with both of them having three gold medals and one bronze medal. Kevin Durant would be ahead of them with four gold medals.

James stepped up and decided to play for Team USA after their humiliating performance at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where they were knocked out by Germany. Don’t be surprised if James played against Germany with a chip on his shoulder, looking to get revenge for the tournament.

LeBron James and Team USA won all of their showcase games in the build-up to the Olympics. While these games are nothing more than tune-up games, they do help the squad build momentum and chemistry ahead of what is a very difficult tournament to win.

Team USA will play their first game at the Olympics on July 28th against Serbia. Having already defeated them as part of their showcase games ahead of the Olympics, Steve Kerr’s men will be confident in their chances of winning.
