The Golden State Warriors’ core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala, alongside general manager Bob Myers, has achieved a lot of success over the last decade or so.
But there have been several rumors about the core of the Dubs breaking up after this season. Stephen Curry recently gave an honest answer to that possibility in an interview with ‘95.7 The Game’s Steiny and Guru.’
“I think we can all acknowledge and keep it real that had we not won a championship last year, then those questions would have been a lot more every day, I guess?” Curry said. “But when you prove that you can win, then you kind of hold off the dogs in terms of how hard it is to do what we’ve done and keep this together for as long as we have. I still feel like we can.
“Obviously, we understand how important Bob is, we understand how important coach is, our core, Draymond, Klay, myself, Andre, even though he’s had a rough year with injuries and whatnot, he’s been extremely valuable behind the scenes in helping maintain our culture.”

Sure, the Warriors have managed to win four NBA Championships over the last eight seasons. But the Warriors dynasty is arguably heading toward an end if the team has a disappointing postseason run this season.
There is the possibility of the Dubs not giving a new contract to Draymond Green, as his prime years in the NBA are undoubtedly over. On top of that, their general manager Bob Myers is yet to sign a contract extension.
If the Warriors can defend their NBA title, fans may get to see the core of the team stay intact. Otherwise, this could be the last season of the Golden State Warriors dynasty.
Stephen Curry Thinks The Warriors Can Make A Championship Run This Season
There have been times when the Warriors haven’t played like the defending champions in the 2022-23 NBA season. The Dubs have struggled to win games, especially on the road.
It is evident from the organization’s 9-30 record away from home. Despite the team’s obvious struggles, Stephen Curry thinks the Warriors can absolutely make a championship run this season.
“This year we’ve had guys in a lot of different roles, some newcomers,” Curry said. “For us to be the champs and have to take everybody’s best shot all year, some self-inflicted wounds that we’ve had, games we should have won. With all that said, absolutely (we can make a run). I feel like we are a team that’s a force and when we’re locked in on the specific test of trying to beat a team four times in a playoff series.”
The Warriors are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 41-38 record. As of now, they are still locked in for a permanent berth in the postseason. But they can very easily slip to a spot in the play-in tournament if they aren’t careful.
