Stephen Curry Is Confident Klay Thompson Will Bounce Back: “I’m Not A Real Gambling Man, But I Would Put A Lot Of Money On The Fact That Klay’s Gonna Have His Moment.”
Klay Thompson isn't living his best days as a part of the Golden State Warriors. He has struggled to make an impact during the first two games of the 2022 NBA Finals, entering a shooting slump that, although it hasn't affected his team, has bothered Klay. He's the main reason why the Golden State Warriors can win this series besides Stephen Curry, and him not making the shots that he normally does is concerning.
Well, he's not too worried about it now, as he's been through that before and is ready to bounce back. During Tuesday's media availability, the player revealed that he looks for old videos of himself on Youtube to try to unlock his mind and return to his best level.
Moreover, Klay isn't the only one confident that he can return to his best level. Stephen Curry even dared to put money on the table that Thompson would return to his best form sooner than later.
“It’s a tricky thing. It’s like you don’t tell Klay Thompson to do anything different, he’s Klay Thompson,” Curry said in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews. “We’ve seen it year after year after year. We’ve seen him impact series with breakout games, he’s got the nickname ‘Game 6 Klay’ for a reason. So there’s nothing really in terms of his confidence or anything you need to say to him.
“It’s just a matter of understanding how Boston’s defending him and where he can let the game come to him a little bit. They obviously know what he’s capable of and they send a lot of attention his way … and so whether he’s getting a bunch of shots early or late or whenever it comes in the game, just to be ready for his moment because he knows it’s coming.”
As it happened before, Curry believes that is just a matter of time before we see the dangerous Klay that can secure wins for the Dubs:
“Over the course of a series, I’m not a real gambling man, but I would put a lot of money on the fact that Klay’s gonna have his moment, and shine, and impact the series in a significant way,” Curry said.
The Warriors travel to Boston for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, which can be the perfect time for Klay to unlock his power and start knocking down 3s to help Curry and co. recover the home-court advantage. Klay has been there before and he'll try to bounce back once again. The Dubs need him to win this series and he's ready for the challenge.
