After leading the Golden State Warriors to four championships while winning a Finals MVP and two MVPs, Stephen Curry certainly has made a strong case to be regarded as the greatest player in franchise history.

Curry has spent all 14 seasons of his NBA career with the Warriors and, during a recent appearance on the Dubs Talk podcast, spoke about what it’d mean for him to finish his career with them.

“It would be special, I mean I’m going into year 15 so it’s hard to see any other scenario,” Curry said (at the 10:01 mark). “And I’ve been blessed to be in a position where we’ve won four championships and for the most part, besides the COVID-stricken year, we have had a legit shot… that’s hard to do, hard to sustain that for as long as we have. I’m super grateful for all of Dub Nation, super grateful for what I’ve been able to do in my career. Me, Klay (Thompson), and Draymond (Green) are all trying to be in that fray. That’s the goal and motivation now.”

Not every great player gets to end their career with the team where they had all their success and Curry is hoping to be fortunate enough to do it, as Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki, and Tim Duncan did.

He is under contract with the Warriors till the 2025-26 season and will be 38 years old after that season. It is doubtful whether he’d even want to keep playing at that point, but if he does, the Warriors would certainly keep him around.

The Warriors Want Curry, Thompson, And Green To Retire With The Team

The Big 3 of Curry, Thompson, and Green have made these Warriors one of the greatest dynasties in modern NBA history. The team is grateful for all that they have done, and owner Joe Lacob would like the trio to retire with them.

“Certainly, we’d like Steph, Draymond, and Klay to retire as Warriors,” Lacob told The Mercury News. “That is my goal, our goal, and I think it’s a good likelihood that’ll happen.”

Curry is under contract till 2025-26, as mentioned earlier and Green’s new four-year, $100 million extension sees him have a player option for 2025-26. If they can agree on a deal with Klay, who is a free agent next year, then there’s a pretty good chance that all three of them do end their careers with the Warriors.
