There are a lot of things Kevin Durant does well. Objectively speaking, there really aren’t a whole lot of holes in his game. He’s a talented shooter, unbelievable finisher, capable defender, and inspiring leader.

One of his most unique and compelling attributes, however, might be his ball-handling.

In an appearance on the “Ball Don’t Stop” podcast, Nets legend Stephon Marbury pointed out how KD’s handles, in particular, help make him so special offensively:

“I remember watching Kevin Durant, his first his first game in college when he was with Texas. I called my brother and I was like, yo, is this kid named Kevin Durant? So he’s a freshman. I said he would not be there. He won’t be there long. He’s crazy. I was like, ‘yo this is sick.’ So from then on, it’s basically been, it’s been the same movement. It’s just been, you know, better.

We’ve never seen a guy at 6’10” handle the ball the way how he handles the basketball. I mean, it’s literally point guard skills and everything that he does from his cross from his, you know, his hezi everything you know, but the thing the thing that separates is he can shoot.”

Indeed, KD is a rare talent. At nearly 7-feet tall, he’s versatile and almost impossible to guard. He has a deep-rooted love and passion for the game that drives him to continue getting better.

“Well, he’s really good,” said James Harden. “But in all seriousness, he’s as humble as they come. He works his butt off, and he works to be the best version of himself night in and night out. And one thing about him is he just really, really loves the game of basketball. A lot of guys just play because they’re tall or whatever the case may be, but he loves it. He plays basketball whenever and wherever. You can’t teach that.”

After leading the Nets to the Eastern Conference Semis last season, Kevin Durant will have another chance to win a Ring in 2022, with a healthy Kyrie Irving and James Harden at his side.

An 11x All-Star and 2x Champion, he should be in store for another monster campaign.
