Steve Kerr Was Not Surprised By Memphis Fan’s Racist Slur On Twitter About Draymond Green: “This Is America. This Is How We Operate.”

The Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies are producing one of the best series in the 2022 playoffs. The Dubs were expected to easily win the series and some even thought that they would sweep the Grizzlies. Although the Warriors have a 2-1 lead as of now, the series is far from over.

Anyway, today our focus is not on the game but on something that took place outside the court. We are talking about Warriors superstar Draymond Green being the target of a racial slur on Twitter following Game 3.

It all began with the ejection of Grizzlies’ Kyle Anderson. Anderson was thrown out of the game after getting two technical fouls. This decision by the refs wasn’t taken well by Memphis Grizzlies fan and FOX13 weatherman Joey Sulipeck. Sulipeck tweeted, which is now deleted:

“And chew on this. Draymond runs his knuckle-dragging open mouth ALL GAME LONG, but mild-mannered Kyle Anderson disputes one call and gets ejected? Next level jackassery.”

It is understandable to get angry with a call or two in a basketball game as fans are very passionate about the sport. But directing racial slurs at players is never an option. Upon learning of the incident, head coach of the Warriors Steve Kerr responded by saying he was not surprised by the incident.

Via NBC Sports:

Does it surprise me that a weatherman would tweet a slur at Draymond? In 2022? Not in the slightest bit. This is America. This is how we operate.”

The term that Sulipeck used means an angry ape, which is by no means the correct way to refer to anyone.

Following the outrage he received from fans all around the globe, Sulipeck has gone missing from social media. Even if he apologizes to Green now, the damage is already done and hopefully Sulipeck will get the punishment that he deserves for his actions.
