The Golden State Warriors core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green remain intact despite rumors suggesting the trio will break up ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.

Many expected the Dubs to choose Jordan Poole over Draymond Green in light of the two stars’ heated altercation last summer. However, according to an anonymous team insider, the Warriors always intended to keep the core together.

“It was the only decision to re-sign Draymond [Green],” a team source told Spotrac’s Keith Smith. “We were never going to break up the core. They’ve had too much success, and we won the title two seasons ago. Why would we move off that group now?”

Draymond Green signed a four-year $100 million extension to stay with the team earlier in the free agency. On the other hand, Jordan Poole was traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul.

The Warriors finished the 2022-23 NBA season as the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 44-38 record. With Poole gone, the Warriors’ chemistry is expected to restore, and they will be one of the top contenders to win the 2024 NBA Championship.

Draymond Green Explains Why He Punched Jordan Poole

Jordan Poole may have ignored the question about his relationship with Draymond Green, but the latter didn’t do the same.

In fact, Green recently explained in detail why he punched Poole during the infamous Warriors practice session last summer.

“I don’t just hit people. Dialogue, of course, happens over time, and you usually ain’t triggered by something that fast,” Green said. “We know stuff you don’t say amongst men. We know things that you have to stand on.”

Poole allegedly made comments about Green’s financial situation prior to getting punched in the face. It certainly doesn’t justify Green’s actions, but Poole could have refrained from mocking the veteran star.
