- Atlanta Hawks
- Boston Celtics

- Memphis Grizzlies
- Miami Heat
- Milwaukee Bucks
- Minnesota Timberwolves
- New Orleans Pelicans
- New York Knicks
- Oklahoma City Thunder
- Orlando Magic
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Phoenix Suns
- Portland Trail Blazers
- Sacramento Kings

- Utah Jazz
- Washington Wizards
NBA teams are always exploring avenues to improve their competitive edge, and this article delves into the players on every team who could find themselves at the center of trade discussions in the upcoming season. Whether it’s addressing roster needs, seeking future assets, or simply shaking up the status quo, these potential trades could reshape the league and set the stage for an unforgettable year of basketball action. Here are the players every NBA team could trade this upcoming season.
Atlanta Hawks
1. Bogdan Bogdanovic
2. De’Andre Hunter
3. Clint Capela
4. Onyeka Okongwu
The Atlanta Hawks don’t seem to be interested in trading All-Star Trae Young right now and that could mean the plan will be surrounding him with the proper talent. It does not make sense to move Dejounte’ Murray who is an elite defensive guard and they have already moved John Collins to the Utah Jazz.
Therefore, the next on the hit list will be a mix of Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, Clint Capela, and Onyeka Okongwu. While it is unlikely that all will be traded, if another potential All-Star such as DeMar DeRozan or Zach LaVine becomes available for example, Atlanta will pull the trigger on any deal to push this team up the ranks in the Eastern Conference.
Boston Celtics
1. Malcolm Brogdon
2. Robert Williams III
3. Payton Pritchard
The Boston Celtics seem to be going all-in for the foreseeable future with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis. Losing Marcus Smart will hurt and based on reports, Malcolm Brogdon isn’t happy after being involved in trade talks. If Brogdon isn’t motivated to play hard, the Celtics will have to move him to provide cover for the departed Smart.
Also, depending on what deal is available, moving Robert Williams III could be in the cards if it means securing their future since the big man is constantly injured with only 209 appearances over five seasons. Payton Pritchard could also be moved if he continues to not get the minutes he feels he deserves. Boston is one of the title favorites next season and that means Brad Stevens will do whatever it takes to get over the hump.
Brooklyn Nets
1. Ben Simmons
2. Nic Claxton
3. Spencer Dinwiddie
4. Royce O’Neale
5. Dorian Finney-Smith
The Brooklyn Nets have been a disaster for a long time, especially since acquiring Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. With both of them gone, the Nets have been forced into a rebuild around budding star Mikal Bridges and also the likes of Cam Johnson and Cam Thomas. While these three players might be untouchable, the rest of the roster isn’t.
Ben Simmons headlines the list as he is no longer an All-Star player although he seems to be motivated for a comeback season. Along with Simmons, the Nets might be willing to move on from their best big man, Nic Claxton, if it means acquiring future picks or other assets. Veterans such as Dinwiddie, O’Neale, and Finney-Smith would also be better off on contending teams.
Charlotte Hornets
1. Terry Rozier
2. Gordon Hayward
3. P.J. Washington
4. Cody Martin
5. Frank Ntilikina
The Charlotte Hornets will never move LaMelo Ball and are bringing back Miles Bridges for another run, so the team should be better than last year. However, the roster needs more stars to actually come out of being a playoff team, and moving the likes of Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, and P.J. Washington could get them there.
The Hornets should push for a player like Zach LaVine who fits in with the uptempo style of play Ball likes to employ on the court, and throwing in Cody Martin and Frank Ntilikina might be useful as well. The Hornets aren’t very good but they need more star talent to get over that hump.
Chicago Bulls
1. DeMar DeRozan
2. Zach LaVine
3. Nikola Vucevic
4. Coby White
5. Torrey Craig
The Chicago Bulls did not make the postseason last year and that is a shame since a core of DeRozan and LaVine should be a difference-maker. The Bulls are not going to win with them, and the sooner management realizes that the quicker they can make moves for the future. Quite frankly, the entire team should be made available for trade.
DeRozan and LaVine will have many suitors across the league while even former All-Star Nikola Vucevic can be a starter on almost any NBA team. Coby White is another interesting trade asset as a 23-year-old sharpshooter with a career 36.7% 3-PT FG, and Torrey Craig could be another player targeted by contending teams. Since Lonzo Ball is missing another season, he probably won’t be taken by any team.
Cleveland Cavaliers
1. Caris LeVert
2. Ricky Rubio
The Cavaliers probably won’t trade Donovan Mitchell unless the shooting guard makes it clear that he does not see his future in Cleveland for the long term. Mitchell has elevated the Cavaliers into contention for a deep playoff run because few teams can compete with their starting lineup of Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen.
As a result, the Cavs would be willing to move talented scorer Caris LeVert and possibly playmaker Ricky Rubio if it means improving the roster with perimeter defense. There could be murmurs of a trade if the Cavaliers do not impress again in the postseason, and in that case, expect a Mitchell trade to happen. So far, the core seems to be finalized for the 2024 campaign.
Dallas Mavericks
1. Tim Hardaway Jr.
2. Maxi Kleber
3. Dwight Powell
4. Josh Green
Dallas needs to get off to a hot start or else they might be heavily in the trade market. Luka Doncic is untouchable for any player in the world and no team will be taking Kyrie Irving off their hands. That means the Mavericks will be shipping any of their assets if a change is needed, including players in their starting lineup.
Hardaway Jr. Is probably a fringe starter in the league, as he shoots 36.1% from three for his career and averaged 14.4 points per game last season. He, along with sharpshooter Maxi Kleber is useful for depth purposes and Josh Green has potential. If any team wants these players, the Dallas Mavericks will strike a deal.
Denver Nuggets
1. Zeke Nnaji
2. Reggie Jackson
Obviously, the reigning 2023 NBA champions won’t be changing their roster much. They lost Bruce Brown and that will hurt, but they have sufficient coverage throughout the roster headlined by the athletic Christian Braun. As a result, not many players are available for trade from the Denver Nuggets team that is headlined by superstar Nikola Jokic.
Zeke Nnaji is a young player with potential as a two-way big man, but he isn’t getting enough minutes. Reggie Jackson barely featured last season and while he was retained with a new contract, he could be involved in trade talks if the Nuggets get hit with injuries and need some new talent.
Detroit Pistons
1. Bojan Bogdanovic
2. Joe Harris
3. Alec Burks
4. Monte Morris
The Detroit Pistons are in complete rebuild mode with the future in the hands of youngsters Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, and Killian Hayes. As a result, any players who are over 25 years old should be traded imminently if they won’t fit the veteran role.
Bojan Bogdanovic is a solid two-way wing who can help out a ton of title contenders so he could be used as trade bait for future picks. Sharpshooter Joe Harris is past his prime and so is Alec Burks, and they can also be dangled as triad bait for future assets. No doubt, Monte Morris is the most valuable asset because he is 28 years old and in his prime.
Golden State Warriors
1. Jonathan Kuminga
2. Moses Moody
3. Gary Payton II
The Golden State Warriors aren’t trading any of their core All-Stars, which means if there is another trade to take the team over the top, the young core of Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody could be used as trade bait. The future is in the hands of the two players, but winning a title is more important than anything else.
The Warriors might not run into a potential deal that is worth losing Kuminga and Moody (along with defensive guard Gary Payton II), so the roster could stay intact for most of the year. To be fair, the Warriors probably don’t even need to make deals because having five All-Star talents should be enough to get the job done.
Houston Rockets
1. Kevin Porter Jr.
2. Jae’Sean Tate
3. Aaron Holiday
4. Boban Marjanovic
The Houston Rockets might be done tanking now that they have missed out on Victor Wembanyama. Amen Thompson seems to be a nice talent so hopefully, he can be developed alongside Jalen Green and Jabari Smith Jr., because the leadership roles now belong to Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks.
The Rockets are first and foremost shopping Kevin Porter Jr. after the nasty allegations that have come out against him. Otherwise, Houston might find a way to swap Jae’Sean Tate for a first-round pick, and veterans Aaron Holiday and Boban Marjanovic are the other odd players out.
Indiana Pacers
1. Myles Turner
2. Buddy Hield
3. T.J. McConnell
4. Daniel Theis
The Indiana Pacers have Tyrese Haliburton who is an All-Star but pretty much anybody else can be dangled as trade bait to become a better team. The Pacers can trade Myles Turner and Buddy Hield, two players who are perfect in the modern NBA. Turner is a shot-blocking center who can shoot the three and Hield is a shot-maker.
Whether they can be packaged together for future picks and young players remains to be seen, but they are easily the two most valuable assets. Otherwise, veterans T.J. McConnell and Daniel Theis can be combined in any trade offer that could bring in players they want. The Pacers would do well to finish with a .500 record, so there isn’t much expectation.
Los Angeles Clippers
1. Marcus Morris
2. Robert Covington
3. Mason Plumlee
The Los Angeles Clippers have a very important season coming up in 2024. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George need to be healthy because this is the final year of their contracts before the player option in 2025 kicks in. No doubt, the Clippers have very important decisions to be made about long-term extensions. As a result, the team will likely go all-in with any deals they can find.
Leonard and George are untouchable for now, and so is Russell Westbrook who is on a team-friendly deal. Unless an All-Star player becomes available, Norman Powell will also be held onto. Therefore, the most valuable assets have to be Marcus Morris, Robert Covington, and Mason Plumlee who title-contending teams would love to have.
Los Angeles Lakers
1. D’Angelo Russell
2. Rui Hachimura
3. Max Christie
The Los Angeles Lakers are not moving LeBron James or Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves is considered untouchable after an impressive stint with Team USA. However, if it means surrounding the trio with other All-Star players, everybody could be available although the major names have to be D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, and Max Christie.
Russell and Hachimura are still young and talented and they will generate significant interest among a ton of other teams. If the Lakers see a deal they like, they will dangle the two players along with the valuable 2029 First-Round Pick that most teams want. However, if the Lakers do not get off to a great start, there might be major changes, although it is unlikely.
Memphis Grizzlies
1. Ja Morant
2. Ziaire Williams
3. Luke Kennard
The Memphis Grizzlies will be without Ja Morant for 25 games next season due to his behavior, and that isn’t great news for the team. In case the superstar point guard acts up again, he could be placed on the chopping block to prevent any further damage to team chemistry. While Memphis has stood by him so far, one more act of poor judgment could force the team’s hands.
Other than Morant, the other players that could be involved in trade talks are Ziaire Williams and Luke Kennard, two young players who can provide right away. Williams is a terrific athlete at 6’8” tall and is only 22 years old while Kennard is shooting a career 43.7% from three over his career and is only 27 years old as well. The Grizzlies have All-Star quality talent without Morant (Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane) so this is an important season for them.
Miami Heat
1. Tyler Herro
2. Kyle Lowry
3. Josh Richardson
4. Nikola Jovic
The player linked to the Miami Heat is none other than Damian Lillard, arguably a top-two-point guard in the world. It seems talks might be progressing between the two parties because the interest is shared between them and Miami might be more desperate to get the deal over the line. No doubt, Tyler Herro headlines the valuable trade assets.
Herro is on his way to becoming an All-Star at only 22 years old and already has a Sixth Man of the Year award he captured in the 2021-22 season by averaging 20.7 points per game. Herro can become a go-to scorer for a team and has time to find his footing in the league. Otherwise, besides first-round picks, the Lillard trade might involve Kyle Lowry and Nikola Jovic while Josh Richardson could be traded at some point next season if he doesn’t perform.
Milwaukee Bucks
1. Jae Crowder
2. Grayson Allen
3. Malik Beasley
The Milwaukee Bucks are running it back with a core of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, and Brook Lopez because this core is good enough on both ends of the court to win a championship. That means the outcasts have to be the recently-acquired Jae Crowder, sharpshooter Grayson Allen, and newly acquired Malik Beasley.
Teams will want to sign these three players at some point next season and the Bucks could offload them if it means greatly improving the roster with a deal. Milwaukee needs depth, however, and having bodies to cover up any potential injuries could be more important than trade deals in 2024.
Minnesota Timberwolves
1. Karl-Anthony Towns
2. Mike Conley
The Minnesota Timberwolves might pull the plug on Karl-Anthony Towns if the team doesn’t have a strong record before the trade deadline. The team is currently led by budding superstar Anthony Edwards and he will be the main guy going forward. That could mean Towns is the most valuable trade asset.
Rudy Gobert is basically unreadable unless the opposing team wants to take on his max salary worth $41,000,000 next year. Towns is only 27 years old and he hasn’t reached his potential yet and could be a player to be used as bait for future picks or potentially another All-Star to boost the team’s morale and leadership qualities.
New Orleans Pelicans
1. Zion Williamson
2. Willy Hernangomez
The New Orleans Pelicans are constantly waiting for Zion Williamson to get back on the court, but they could be done with that in case the big man doesn’t hurry up and get healthy. One more major setback and the Pelicans might want to move on from their franchise star, rebuilding around Brandon Ingram instead.
There is no doubt that many franchises will be interested in acquiring Williamson because at 23 years old, he has a ton of games left to improve on. Sure, his injury history is very concerning, but the Pelicans might do enough to convince teams he is worth first-round picks or other valuable assets. It might be time that New Orleans does not get held hostage anymore and cut the frustration from affecting their seasons.
New York Knicks
1. Immanuel Quickley
2. Evan Fournier
The New York Knicks could make a massive move to swap Julius Randle for another star, but unless that comes up, the team might cash in on Sixth Man of the Year candidate Immanuel Quickley, who is only 24 years old and averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game on 37.0% shooting from deep last season. No doubt, Quickley might feel he deserves a starting spot on a new team.
Otherwise, the Knicks will keep trying to trade Evan Fournier because the shooting guard is making $18.8 million in 2024 and only played 27 games last year. It is clear Fournier is exiled from the team but there haven’t been any interested parties in the sharpshooter. Expect the Knicks to keep an ear out for potential moves to try and improve the starting lineup.
Oklahoma City Thunder
1. Victor Oladipo
2. Davis Bertans
3. Kenrich Williams
The Oklahoma City Thunder are in a great spot for the future. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a superstar player and the potential of Chet Holmgren and Josh Giddey is through the roof. Not to mention, no team has accumulated the stack of first-round picks that the Thunder have in recent seasons.
Therefore, the Thunder won’t be sellers although veterans Victor Oladipo and Davis Bertans are the odd men out. Both players are over 30 years old and Oladipo specifically hasn’t been healthy since the 2018 season. If contenders want depth, the Thunder will gladly accept picks for their services.
Orlando Magic
1. Cole Anthony
2. Markelle Fultz
3. Gary Harris
The Orlando Magic have Paolo Banchero who won Rookie of the Year, but that doesn’t mean the team is close to contending anytime soon. Orlando needs to keep tanking around Banchero because the rest of the roster is not built for immediate success, meaning they could cash in on their talents to focus on the future.
Cole Anthony can play basketball as a legitimate starter in the NBA, as he averaged 13.0 points and 3.9 assists per game last season. The Magic could cash in on the 23-year-old for picks and also include former No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz and veteran shooting guard Gary Harris.
Philadelphia 76ers
1. James Harden
2. Tobias Harris
3. De’Anthony Melton
4. Montrezl Harrell
James Harden obviously headlines Philadelphia’s stack of players who could be traded. The Beard’s situation could turn very ugly as the Los Angeles Clippers have exited trade talks and no other team might want to take the often disgruntled star. Harden has hurt his value with constant trade requests and that harms the player and the Philadelphia 76ers franchise.
Along with Harden, Tobias Harris has been involved in trade rumors constantly because while he is a solid starter, he isn’t worth the $39 million he will be paid in 2024. Philly might also use defensive guard De’Anthony Melton in trade talks because he has value as a 25-year-old and so might veteran Montrezl Harrell.
Phoenix Suns
1. Deandre Ayton
2. Josh Okogie
The Phoenix Suns team is intact for the foreseeable future as Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal are immovable assets. The likes of Eric Gordon and Bol Bol were brought in for depth purposes and there aren’t many tradable assets outside of Deandre Ayton and Josh Okogie. Luckily for Phoenix, both of these players are incredibly interesting prospects for any team in the NBA.
Ayton has been involved in trade rumors throughout his career with the Suns because he isn’t exactly a paint enforcer when that is what the team has truly needed. Ayton is offensively adept at 25 years old and could bring in more depth to fit around the Big Three. The same goes for Okogie who is 25 years old and could also bring in more depth.
Portland Trail Blazers
1. Damian Lillard
2. Jerami Grant
3. Jusuf Nurkic
4. Kevin Knox
Damian Lillard is obviously on the trading block and rumors could be leaning towards the Miami Heat finally getting their man. If Lillard does leave, the Portland Trail Blazers have to focus their future on Scoot Henderson who looks to be a contender for the Rookie of the Year award. Dame Time is likely over in Portland and most fans have accepted that at this point.
The Trail Blazers should also move on from Jerami Grant, Jusuf Nurkic, and even Kevin Knox in terms of the complete rebuild. Grant and Nurkic are win-now type of players and keeping them on the team could generate unnecessary wins for a side that wants to make Henderson, Anfernee Simons, and Shaedon Sharpe learn the ropes.
Sacramento Kings
1. Harrison Barnes
2. Chris Duarte
3. Alex Len
The Sacramento Kings have an All-Star duo in De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, a budding star in Keegan Murray, and also a legitimate baller as a sixth man in Malik Monk. Harrison Barnes has been an excellent starter for them in recent seasons, but he could be used in trade talks with Chris Duarte to bring on possibly a bonafide starting shooting guard or forward.
Alex Len could also be moved since JaVale McGee was signed and seems to be an important player for them. It will be interesting to see how the Kings start the season because simply making the playoffs is no longer the requirement for a good season, and trade could elevate the roster.
San Antonio Spurs
1. Devonte’ Graham
2. Zach Collins
3. Cedi Osman
4. Doug McDermott
5. Reggie Bullock
The San Antonio Spurs have their man, Victor Wembanyama, possibly for the rest of his career. The Spurs won the tanking process and they can surround the big man with young talents such as Jeremy Sochan, Tre Jones, and Keldon Johnson. Any other player could be traded at any point next season.
Devonte’ Graham is a player that can be useful as a backup point guard somewhere else, and Zach Collins can do the same as a center. Osman and McDermott can space the floor and contending teams could ask for them if it means boosting the bench.
Toronto Raptors
1. Pascal Siakam
2. OG Anunoby
3. Gary Trent Jr.
4. Otto Porter Jr.
5. Chris Boucher
The Toronto Raptors might be forced into a rebuild early into the season because this team might not be very good with Fred VanVleet now gone. Pascal Siakam is an All-Star forward and he could be used to bring in a mix of very useful first-round picks and young players. The key is to surround Scottie Barnes with young talent.
Otherwise, OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr., Otto Porter Jr., and Chris Boucher are all players who can help teams that want to go for winning as many games as possible. Anunoby, alongside Siakam, can bring in the most assets so the Raptors should consider trading them all as soon as they can.
Utah Jazz
1. Jordan Clarkson
2. Kelly Olynyk
3. Kris Dunn
The Utah Jazz have some nice talent in Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, Walker Kessler, and Talen Horton-Tucker, but veterans such as Jordan Clarkson, Kelly Olynyk, and Kris Dunn probably don’t belong. Clarkson is an instant scorer off the bench and any contending team would love to have him come in and post at least 15 points per game in his sleep.
Olynyk is a modern big man who can score, rebound, and defend while also spacing the floor enough. The big man can play important minutes off the bench and Dunn also has seven years under his belt as a point guard. The Jazz should get rid of their veterans and instead focus on the youngsters going forward. The question is, can Utah swap Clarkson and company for first-round picks?
Washington Wizards
1. Landry Shamet
2. Delon Wright
3. Danilo Gallinari
4. Mike Muscala
The Washington Wizards finally traded Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis and will be building around Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma going forward. That means each of these players is untouchable but the rest of the roster is not quite up to par and could be dangled as trade bait. The main one will be Landry Shamet, a sharpshooter that contenders will want to acquire.
Shamet is shooting 38.8% from deep for his career and has recently completed seasons with the Clippers, Nets, and Suns because he is a great option to spot-up for open shots. Delon Wright, Danilo Gallinari, and Mike Muscala are veterans with solid offensive ability and will be targeted by contenders as well.
