The Miami Heat Are Planning To Sign Dewayne Dedmon For The Rest Of The Season

2 Min Read

The Miami Heat have been looking for a big man from the buyout market for a while now, and it seems as though they have found someone that they like. The Miami Heat have signed Dewayne Dedmon, who formerly played for the Atlanta Hawks.

Dewayne Dedmon has been a free agent throughout the 2020-21 season, and it is good to see him get another chance in the NBA. While Dewayne Dedmon isn’t a player that will tip the scale single-handedly, he is a solid player who can do the basic things teams require from a center.

The Miami Heat sent out Kelly Olynyk in the Victor Oladipo trade, so it would make sense that they were looking for a big man. One of Kelly Olynyk’s valuable skills was the floor spacing that he brought as a big man. Dewayne Dedmon had a bad shooting season during the 2019-20 season but shot 38.2% from beyond the arc with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2018-19 season. Dedmon will be able to play some big man minutes and try to earn another contract in the offseason.

Acquiring Dewayne Dedmon is a low-key move, but it provides the Miami Heat with important depth and an experienced veteran. Hopefully, Dedmon can make an impact for the Heat, and give them another option at the center position.
