The Most Shocking Stat From The Warriors: Golden State Is Currently 19th In 3PT%. If Kelly Oubre Had Not Shot Any 3s This Season, They Would Rank 4th.

2 Min Read

The Golden State Warriors entered this NBA season as a total unknown following Klay Thompson’s injury that will prevent him from playing his second straight season. The Warriors have a lot of work to do but with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green they are doing fine so far.

Things are getting fine now for the Dubs, but they could be a lot better if it wasn’t for a stat that is keeping the Warriors away from being one of the best 3-point shooter teams in the NBA. Reddit user “dvasquez93” recently broke down how the Warriors would have a better 3-PT percentage if it wasn’t for Kelly Oubre, one of their additions in the offseason.

Oubre was expected to have a similar role to Klay Thompson but he hasn’t delivered the same way as Klay. He has tried to be a consistent 3-point shooter but he’s mightily failed so far.

Golden State is currently shooting a mediocre 123/341 (36.1%) from deep, placing them at 19th in the league.

However, if we subtract Oubre’s shots (currently 6 for 45), that number jumps to 117/296 (39.5%), good for 4th in the league. It’s kind of insane that Golden State is basically one man’s shooting slump away from being a borderline elite shooting team.

The good news is that it’s almost impossible for Oubre, a career 32% 3pt shooter, to continue being this bad from 3, but so far he has left much to be desired offensively.

As this Redditor said, things can only get better from this point. Oubre was expected to make a big impact on the game and help his team compete in the Western Conference. Only time will tell when that will happen but the Dubs have a lot of expectations for this young player.
