The Los Angeles Lakers revamped their roster around the NBA trade deadline in the 2022-23 NBA season.
One of those moves was trading Thomas Bryant for Davon Reed and three second-round picks to the Denver Nuggets. Bryant ended up winning the 2023 NBA Championship, despite playing zero minutes. After becoming a champion, Bryant was extremely happy.
“This is what it’s all about right here. Winning this championship… I’m a champ! What up champ! What’s good champ!”

Bryant was apparently unhappy with the lack of minutes he received from the Lakers after Anthony Davis returned from injury. During his stint with the Lakers, he averaged 12.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 0.7 APG in 41 games.
For the Nuggets, Bryant featured in 18 games while averaging 4.6 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 0.1 APG. It’s ironic that Bryant demanded a trade from the Lakers due to a lack of minutes.
As he averaged 21.4 MPG with the Lakers as compared to 11.4 MPG with the Nuggets during the regular season. But at the end of the day, Bryant is still happy after becoming an NBA champion.
What’s Next For Thomas Bryant?
Thomas Bryant is already 25 years old. He has won an NBA Championship, albeit playing a grand total of zero minutes during the postseason. But he will enter the offseason an unrestricted free agency.
Bryant made a guaranteed $2,133,278 last season. Keeping that in mind, he will be looking for a better deal next season. If the Nuggets bring him back, they may not offer him a long contract due to the new CBA rules.
Moreover, the 25-year-old may be looking for a change in scenario after logging no minutes during the 2023 playoffs. He won a ring, and now it’s time to get paid, most likely with a different franchise.
