Trae Young Calls Out Chris Broussard Over Victor Wembanyama Comments

Trae Young couldn't believe Chris Broussard took the expectations about Victor Wembanyama to a different planet.

After the San Antonio Spurs won the 2023 NBA Draft lottery, everybody has something to say about the future of this team, which will include Victor Wembanyama unless something extraordinary happens.

Controversial analyst Chris Broussard was one of them, as he recently raised the bar for Wembanyama’s future NBA career. Broussard stated that if Wemby turns out to be at the same level as big legends, he’d be a disappointment.

“Here’s what I’m saying. These are my expectations for him: one of the best players ever,” Broussard said. “I’m not going to go GOAT conversation. One of the best players ever. Top 20 is Kevin Durant. If he’s Kevin Durant, if he’s Hakeem Olajuwon, he’s not met expectations. His expectations are to have a career like LeBron, Jordan, Duncan, Shaq or Kareem.”

.@Chris_Broussard: If Wemby is AD, KD or Hakeem, that's a disappointment. I expect him to be one of the best players ever — to have a career like LeBron, Jordan, Duncan, Shaq or Kareem.@getnickwright: Then the expectations are too high. This is a bold take, but Broussard is used to making these types of comments. Of course, many people would react to them, and Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young had a big reaction, showing that this take was baffling for him.

Wembanyama has shown plenty of interesting things during his time in France. The center has taken the world by storm, and he’s set to do the same in the association. It won’t be easy, but Victor is ready to whatever challenge the league presents.

Young knows the 19-year-old has a lot of talent, but people already telling him what type of career he should have is crazy. Still, Broussard won’t change his opinion, and the ball is on Wemby’s court to prove doubters wrong.

Victor Wembanyama Is Ready To Take Over The NBA

The future No. 1 overall pick has shown his excitement to join the San Antonio Spurs while also celebrating not going to Houston. Wemby has everything to become the team’s new face, and the Spurs are already embracing him.

They could make some big moves to become a great team in 2024 and challenge for several championships, but it’s still too early to tell. They need to focus on this upcoming campaign, in Wemby’s development, and then see how far they can go every season in the West.
