Trae Young has had a fantastic individual season with the Atlanta Hawks this year. He has been one of the few bright spots on the team amidst a disappointing season. Trae Young is currently averaging 27.7 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and 9.3 APG this season while shooting 38.0% from beyond the arc.

The All-Star starters have recently been revealed, and Trae Young got selected to be a starter in the Eastern Conference. Charles Barkley took objection to this and claimed Zach LaVine should be starting ahead of Trae Young due to his team’s winning record.

"I like Trae a lot, but I thought it should've been Zach LaVine."

Chuck cited the #Bulls having much better team success as a primary reason for why he'd choose LaVine over Trae Young for other starting spot in East backcourt

Charles Barkley does have an argument. Winning has always played a part in selecting All-Stars, but unfortunately, Zach LaVine got snubbed this year. With that being said, Trae Young is definitely a fantastic individual player, and he clearly deserved to be an All-Star starter.

Trae Young later roasted Charles Barkley for saying that he shouldn’t be a starter in the All-Star game, telling Barkley to “eat a Twinkie” and “be quiet sometimes”. He also expressed his appreciation to the fans that cast the votes for him to be in the All-Star game.

Truly Blessed🙏🏽 !! Thank you to the Fans ❤️ ALWAYS LOVE !! 2X!!

It is clear that Trae Young was joking, and that this definitely isn’t some sort of serious altercation. With that being said, Trae Young definitely deserves his respect. While his team has struggled this year, part of that is on the franchise being unable to get Trae Young a co-star. They have been linked with Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons though, so perhaps Young not having a co-star could change in the future.

Hopefully, we see the Atlanta Hawks and Trae Young bounce back in the coming weeks, and potentially make the play-in tournament. They had an impressive Eastern Conference Finals run last year, but it’s time for them to get it together and start stringing together some wins, as that run is in the past.
