Trae Young: ‘Kobe Was My Jordan’

1 Min Read

Trae Young never shared a court with Kobe Bryant, but years of watching, rooting for, and studying Kobe was enough to fall in love with his game.

In the wake of Kobe’s passing, Trae was among those most emotionally effected despite never really having a relationship with him. Yesterday, as he looked back on his experience with the Mamba, he admitted that Kobe Bean was his version of Michael Jordan.

It’s been about a month now since the tragic death of Kobe, his daughter Gianna, and 7 others died in a helicopter crash in Southern California. The world has gave no shortage of memorials to honor those who died that day.

But on February 24 (2/24), it is Kobe and Gianna (who wore those numbers) who came up in people’s minds again. They believed in the value of hard work and that the achievement of a dream was always within reach.

For Trae, and many others around the globe, Kobe was his inspiration, his role-model — much like Jordan was to the generation before. Though he may be gone, Kobe’s legacy will continue to live on in every game.
