The 1990s belonged to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Jordan led the organization to six NBA Championships, which included two 3-peats. But by the end of the decade, the NBA was ready for Michael to pass the torch to the next face of the league.

As it turned out, it was none other than the future Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant who took the mantle from Michael Jordan. Although MJ and Kobe played in different eras, there were a few times when their careers overlapped, and NBA fans got a chance to see the two legends face off against each other.

One such night was on February 01, 1998, when the Chicago Bulls locked horns with the Los Angeles Lakers during the regular season.

In 1998, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and the Chicago Bulls were having their last dance. On the other hand, a young Kobe Bryant was catching the attention of the league with his amazing ability. Considering Kobe had a pretty similar playing style to Jordan, many had the February 01 matchup between the two players circled on their calendars.

The game finished in favor of the Lakers as they annihilated the Bulls and ended up winning the game 112-87. Jordan recorded 31 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal. On the other hand, Bryant had 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals coming off the bench.

When we compare the careers of both NBA legends, Jordan is certainly ahead of Bryant. But the Lakers legends shared more similarities with Mike than we have seen any other player in the history of the league. At the end of the day, they both remain legends of the game, and watching these old clips is one way for fans to make sure that their legacy never dies.
