Video: Patrick Beverley Gets Ejected For Shoving Serge Ibaka

Patrick Beverley is well-known for being one of the most passionate players in the league. Beverley is a feisty perimeter defender who will pick up any opposing star. He also has a reputation as someone who cares deeply about his teammates, willing to stand up for them if the need arises.

During the Minnesota Timberwolves-Milwaukee Bucks game, Bucks center Serge Ibaka got tangled up with Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince. The contact clearly made Patrick Beverley angry, as he ended up running over and shoving Serge Ibaka.

From the video, it is clear that the situation was non-physical until Patrick Beverley’s shove on Serge Ibaka. Taurean Prince and Serge Ibaka were obviously exchanging words with the referee attempting to diffuse the situation. However, Patrick Beverley’s actions clearly escalated the altercation, and eventually, the referees made the call to eject Patrick Beverley as well as George Hill for the incident. The referees’ decision to do so is clearly justifiable.

Hopefully, this doesn’t happen again in the future. The game shouldn’t include this sort of aggressive physical activity even if it is to stand up for a teammate. It is clear that tensions ran high in this situation. Unfortunately, those tensions resulted in multiple players getting ejected.

The game did end up continuing on, and the Minnesota Timberwolves managed to get out to a lead even without their point guard. Getting a win against the Milwaukee Bucks would certainly be key to their hopes of avoiding the play-in tournament, and perhaps we’ll see them get to the 6th seed by the end of the season.

It remains to be seen if any of the parties involved getting any form of wider punishment from the NBA in the future. Those punishments generally come out in the form of fines. This isn’t the first time that physical incidents such as these have happened during a game, and perhaps we’ll see a reduction in them going forward.
