The Golden State Warriors are facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers in a highly-anticipated second-round matchup in the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

This marks the fifth encounter in the playoffs between two of the generation’s best players in LeBron James and Stephen Curry, who were seen laughing together during their Game 1 matchup.

James and Curry are long past the point of being bitter rivals with their long history as competitors. There’s a very obvious sense of common respect between the two, and this series may be the last chance to see them compete while they’re both playing at this level.

A Strong Outing At Chase For The Lakers

Through the first half of Lakers vs. Warriors, both teams have excelled at the parts most anticipated. The Warriors are shooting lights out from three, already making 13 three-pointers in the first half. The Lakers have a more balanced attack across the three levels of the court, but Anthony Davis is absolutely dominating everyone with 23 points and 11 rebounds in the first half.

LeBron James has 12 points, while Stephen Curry has scored 10 in this matchup so far. The contest has already lived up to the hype, but both the marquee stars could have a larger presence. LeBron hasn’t been the No. 1 option on the Lakers for the entirety of the playoffs so far, excelling in an off-ball role while struggling to get his offense going. His defense has been markedly improved as well.

Curry is the beating heart of the Warriors and is their primary option on the court. If he can go into overdrive as he did in Game 7 against the Sacramento Kings, the Lakers may fall down 1-0 to start the series. Klay Thompson is leading Golden State with 18 points so in the game so far, with Jordan Poole contributing 14 off the bench.
