The Los Angeles Lakers are looking primed and ready for their playoff push after a strong win over the Dallas Mavericks in which they completed a 27-point comeback.

The win proved that the Lakers can pull out playoff-quality wins by ensuring the team doesn’t give up when losing by a lot. Considering every game is a must-win for them, this win is going to feel extremely valuable to the franchise looking to make a top-6 seed.

Darvin Ham’s coaching philosophy is exemplified by grit and toughness. His Lakers showed that in this game and the coach wanted to let his players know that they played beautifully.

Ham said, “That’s called growth right there. Down 27 and still pushing, possession by possession. Can’t get discouraged but we just have to compete harder. That was the lesson of that game, you can never get discouraged. Just compete harder, it’s beautiful. Take care of your bodies, get your rest, we got more work to do. Keep stacking.”

This performance is going to be a massive boost for LA heading into the final stretch of the season. They’re just 3 games below .500 and have a realistic shot at pushing up the standings if their form continues.

Can The Lakers Actually Be The 6th Seed?

By beating the 6th-seeded Mavericks, the Lakers have cut their gap to the top six down to just 2.5 games. Given their current form and the hiccups other teams in the West continue to face, they could make a push if they continue their winning ways.

They’re due for some losses over the next 21 games and still need to win at least 14 to 15 games to keep their 6th-seed pace up. They’ve had an admirable start but the battle for the 6th seed is going to keep them pushing until the final game of the season.
