Dwyane Wade is widely considered to be a franchise legend with the Miami Heat, and many consider him the greatest player to play for the franchise. He won three championships with the team, notably winning the Finals MVP in 2006 after carrying the team offensively throughout the playoffs.

During the recent Celebrity All-Star Game, Giannis Antetokounmpo lauded Dwyane Wade for winning a championship “the right way” in 2005. The Bucks star noted that he’s a huge fan of Dwyane Wade, recalling the time he posted a picture of the former Heat superstar on his story after winning a championship.

I’m a huge, huge fan of you bro. The day after we won the championship I posted a picture of you on my story. A picture of you, Dirk, Hakeem, and Tim… Because you guys… You did it in Miami. You did it the right way. That’s how I want to do it.

Though obviously, all championships are hard to win, there is something to be said about being able to stay with one franchise and win it all. We have seen a lot of big-time players move around to win championships, but clearly, Giannis Antetokounmpo is a player that values loyalty a lot more than other superstars.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Only Cares About Winning

Though many people believe that Giannis Antetokounmpo is the best player in the world and the face of the league, Antetokounmpo is someone who cares more about winning than recognition. Previously, he claimed that what matters to him is winning and having fun, noting that being the face of the league doesn’t make you a better player.

“I don’t care about that. I only care about winning. I only care about having fun, I want to enjoy the game. I want to be healthy. I want to compete in a high level for as many years as I have left and I want to go back home to my kids and enjoy my time with my kids.”

“I don’t believe being the face of the NBA changes or makes you play better or makes you play worse. I’ve seen people that want to be the face in the NBA, but you don’t compete, you don’t make your team great, it doesn’t really matter.

There’s no question that Giannis Antetokounmpo has the mentality of a winner, and this stance makes sense. He has achieved everything there is to accomplish as a player at an individual level, and now what matters for his legacy is stacking more championships.

It remains to be seen if Giannis Antetokounmpo will manage to win a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks going forward. He definitely has the talent to do it this year, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
