Zion Williamson Has An Issue With His NBA 2K22 Rating: “What Did I Do For It To Drop Down?”

3 Min Read

As one of the brightest young stars in the NBA, Zion Williamson has become a premier face of the game, often earning attracting tons of attention and heaps of expectation.

Last year, he made a bit of history by becoming one of the youngest 90-rated players in NBA 2K ever, a reflection of how the community felt about his game at the time.

But over this most recent campaign, Williamson and the Pelicans were mostly irrelevant, failing to make any real noise when it mattered.

And now that the newest release of 2K is out, Williamson has dropped to an 89, something he himself isn’t a huge fan of.

“When I stopped playing I was a 90,” Zion said. “Nothing happened since then. What did I do for it to drop down a rating? But hey, that’s just me. It is what it is.”

Zion is still just 21-years-old, so it seems unlikely that his rating will never hit 90 again. The best is yet to come for him.

Of course, Williamson also had some things to say about the ratings of some other players, including LeBron James and Kevin Durant (who should both be 99s in his book).

“I think we all witnessed it last year in the playoffs,” Zion said. “He just put on a basketball clinic, and I feel like anybody who respects the game of basketball, you just know how to appreciate greatness in what we saw.

Off of respect and what he’s done for the game, I’ll give LeBron a 99. What he’s done for the game, nobody else has done, so I give respect when it’s due. Giannis, I’ll give him a 97, 98. Championship, won it in Milwaukee, got a lot of respect for that. Curry, same thing, 97, 98. Nobody does what he does.”

Roasting the NBA 2K ratings seems to be a yearly tradition, so it’s no surprise that Zion voiced some of his objections.

As much as fans might dislike 2K sports for some of their decisions, ranking some of the world’s best basketball players is never going to be a cut-and-dry affair. People are always going to have something to say.
