With the Houston Rockets in the middle of a troubling stretch of basketball, trade rumors have begun to circulate about the potential availability of their players.
With everyone but Russ and Harden believed to be fair-game, teams are sniffing out a potential deal for 25-year-old Clint Capela, who has been the defacto man-in-the-middle for Houston since 2015.
According to Shams Charania, the Atlanta Hawks are expressing significant interest in the star big man, even if the Rockets themselves aren’t sold on the idea of moving him at all.
The Hawks are among several teams expressing interest in Rockets center Clint Capela, according to sources. Houston has received several calls on Capela, but is said to be unlikely to move him barring an overwhelming offer.
For the Hawks, Capela isn’t the only name on their radar. Steven Adams is another name they are taking a hard look at:
Collins has so far been part of the Hawks’ young core along with All-Star guard Trae Young. But the Hawks’ need for a more natural center is known, and they have expressed interest in Capela, Sacramento’s Dewayne Dedmon and Oklahoma City’s Steven Adams, too.
The Atlanta Hawks have been abysmal all season long, despite having Trae Young and John Collins.
It’s hard to say what Capela’s presence will do for the team, but things can’t get much worse for them this season. At the very least, the big man can grab rebounds, block shots, and make some easy baskets at the rim.
