1. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic Ruthlessly Trash-Talked Shai Gilgeous-Alexander And OKC Thunder Fans In Game 5

2023-24 Season Statistics: 33.9 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 9.8 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Luka Doncic continued his ascension to the NBA’s upper echelon in the 2023-24 season with another campaign displaying his unparalleled versatility and command of the game. Leading the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals, Doncic puts up MVP-caliber numbers, showcasing his ability to score from anywhere on the floor, make plays for his teammates, and dominate the boards.

Heading into the 2024-25 season, Luka is expected to further cement his place as one of the top players in the NBA. With an improved supporting cast and a deeper understanding of the game, Doncic will look to lead the Mavericks deep into the playoffs. His unique blend of size, skill, and savviness is unmatched, and as he enters his prime, Doncic could be looking to win his first MVP award.

2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Rival Executives No Longer Expect Shai Gilgeous-Alexander To Want Out From The Thunder

2023-24 Season Statistics: 30.1 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 6.2 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.9 BPG

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took another leap forward in the 2023-24 season, solidifying himself as a top-tier guard in the NBA after posting 30.1 points per game in the regular season and making the second round of the playoffs. Known for his crafty scoring ability and smooth handling, SGA has proven to be an elite shot creator, whether driving to the basket or pulling up from mid-range.

As the Thunder continue their rebuild with a young and promising roster, Gilgeous-Alexander’s role as a leader and primary scorer will be crucial. If he continues on this trajectory, SGA could see himself in the MVP conversation once again and to be frank, he is close to being in the conversation for best point guard in the world.

3. Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry

2023-24 Season Statistics: 26.4 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 5.1 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.4 BPG

Stephen Curry, the greatest shooter in NBA history, showed no signs of slowing down during the 2023-24 season. Curry’s incredible shooting ability, off-ball movement, and leadership on the court remain unparalleled. Despite being 36 years old, Curry continues to redefine the point guard role with his ability to warp defenses and create space not only for himself but also for his teammates.

Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, Curry’s presence remains vital for the Warriors as they look to compete for another title, even if they might not have the roster to compete. Curry’s performance in the 2024 Olympics in Paris pretty much solidifies his stance as a top-three point guard in the world heading into the next NBA season.

4. Jalen Brunson

Walt Frazier Thinks Jalen Brunson Has A Chance To Be One Of The Greatest Knicks Ever

2023-24 Season Statistics: 28.7 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 6.7 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.2 BPG

Jalen Brunson’s emergence as a top-tier point guard has been a revelation for the New York Knicks. Brunson was on a tear for the Knicks in the playoffs, averaging 32.4 points and 7.5 assists per game and guiding them to the second round in a losing effort to the Indiana Pacers.

As he steps into a leadership role once again, Brunson has quickly become the heartbeat of the Knicks’ resurgence in the Eastern Conference. His relentless drive to win and improve has galvanized his teammates, and his clutch performances have already earned him a special place in the hearts of New York fans. Based on his play, Brunson has a chance to make the Knicks a legitimate title contender next season.

5. Tyrese Haliburton

Tyrese Haliburton Trash-Talks Knicks During Blowout Game 4 Win; Jalen Brunson Responds

2023-24 Season Statistics: 20.1 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 10.9 APG, 1.2 SPG, 0.7 BPG

Tyrese Haliburton is not just a rising star; he is a maestro on the court. With a style that balances old-school savvy and new-school versatility, Haliburton’s ability to control the game as a floor general has quickly become his defining trait. The Indiana Pacers have found their franchise cornerstone in Haliburton, who has proven capable of not just filling up the stat sheet but also elevating the play of everyone around him.

With his dedication to honing his craft and an unwavering desire to win, Haliburton is set to be a key figure in the NBA’s future especially if the Pacers keep surrounding him with the right talents including All-NBA-caliber big man Pascal Siakam. Hopefully, Haliburton can continue the trend of improving his all-around play.

6. Ja Morant

Ja Morant

2023-24 Season Statistics: 25.1 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 8.1 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.6 BPG

Ja Morant will be returning in the 2024-25 NBA season after having a year filled with injury issues and suspension. Appearing in only nine games, we hardly got to see the talented superstar play. However, we might not be waiting long to see Morant get back on the court.

As Morant continues to mature, the challenge will be balancing his flashy play with consistency and control. His fiery approach can sometimes lead to reckless moments, but his passion is also what makes him a future MVP candidate. If Morant can refine his decision-making and stay focused off the court, the Memphis Grizzlies will be a real problem on the floor.

7. Kyrie Irving

Kyrie Irving On His Preparation For Game 4: "Get The Ammo Ready, Get The Bazooka, Get The .50 Cal Ready"

2023-24 Season Statistics: 25.6 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 5.2 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Kyrie Irving remains one of the gifted players in the NBA and he makes the list as a natural point guard alongside Luka Doncic. His ability to handle the basketball is nothing short of magical and he is easily a superstar player right now after guiding the Mavericks to the NBA Finals.

There’s no denying that when Kyrie is locked in, he can change the complexion of a game in a matter of minutes. We expected a little more from Irving in the NBA Finals after only averaging 19.8 points per game, but that doesn’t knock him off his perch as a top 10 point guard in the universe.

8. Tyrese Maxey

Tyrese Maxey Was Frustrated Trying To Carry The 76ers Without Joel Embiid: "What More Do You Want Me To Do?

2023-24 Season Statistics: 25.9 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 6.2 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Tyrese Maxey’s rise in the NBA has been a story of hard work and seizing opportunity. Thrust into a more prominent role with the Philadelphia 76ers as the second option last year, Maxey has exceeded expectations with his explosive speed, fearless shot-making, and boundless energy.

A spark plug on offense, he has become a scoring machine, capable of lighting up defenses both in transition and the half-court. His partnership with Joel Embiid provides a dynamic inside-outside threat, and a new duo with Paul George could mean the point guard reaches new heights sooner rather than later.

9. Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard Says He Is Lonely In Milwaukee: "I Don't Have Much Of A Life"

2023-24 Season Statistics: 24.3 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 7.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.2 BPG

Damian Lillard’s reputation as one of the most clutch players in NBA history is well-earned. His move to the Milwaukee Bucks has brought a new chapter to his storied career, pairing him with Giannis Antetokounmpo in what could be a championship-winning duo.

In Milwaukee, Lillard’s experience and leadership will be pivotal. His ability to operate in pick-and-rolls and score from anywhere on the court adds a new dimension to the Bucks’ offense. However, Lillard needs to stay healthy after only appearing in four playoff games because his impact alongside Giannis will be key to what happens in the Eastern Conference in 2024-25.

10. De’Aaron Fox

De'Aaron Fox

2023-24 Season Statistics: 26.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 5.6 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.4 BPG

De’Aaron Fox has quietly evolved into one of the most potent offensive weapons in the league. With his blazing speed and ability to penetrate defenses, Fox keeps opponents on their heels, and his improved shooting (36.9% 3-PT FG) has only added to his bag of tricks.

Leading the Sacramento Kings to their first playoff appearance in years in 2022-23, Fox’s breakout performances have shown his capacity to be a true leader and a legitimate first option for a contending team. However, Fox needs to make the playoffs again after missing out last year because expectations will be high now that DeMar DeRozan is on the team.

11. Trae Young

Trae Young

2023-24 Season Statistics: 25.7 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 10.8 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.2 BPG

Trae Young is one of the most polarizing and talented point guards in the NBA. While some criticize his shot selection and defensive lapses, his ability to control the game as a scorer and facilitator is undeniable. The Atlanta Hawks have given Young the keys to their franchise, and he has responded on an individual level by putting up monster stats.

However, as he continues to mature, Young’s leadership and decision-making will be crucial in determining just how far Atlanta can go in a competitive Eastern Conference. The Hawks have been irrelevant for two years and it doesn’t seem like No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr will have enough to change that alongside Trae Young.

12. Jamal Murray

Lakers Fans Think A 3-0 Comeback Is Possible With Jamal Murray Listed As Questionable For Game 5: "Lakeshow In 7"

2023-24 Season Statistics: 21.2 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 6.5 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.7 BPG

Jamal Murray’s reputation as a playoff performer has reached new heights after his standout performances with the Denver Nuggets over the past few seasons. His partnership with Nikola Jokic is one of the most dynamic in the NBA, characterized by seamless pick-and-rolls, deadly shooting, and an uncanny ability to perform under pressure.

Now a seasoned leader, Murray is looking to elevate the Nuggets to another NBA championship next season. The Nuggets failed to return to the Finals, and losing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in free agency won’t help, but we won’t put it past Murray to be a difference-maker for the team in the 2024-25 season.

13. James Harden

James Harden - Los Angeles Clippers

2023-24 Season Statistics: 16.6 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 8.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.8 BPG

James Harden is a master of reinvention, continuously adapting his game to suit the needs of his team and the evolution of his own skills. Despite the ups and downs in recent seasons, Harden’s impact on the floor is still significant and he will have to return to at least 70% of what made him a perennial MVP candidate to help Kawhi Leonard in Los Angeles.

His time with the Clippers represents a new chapter, where he has a chance to shed his past playoff struggles and cement his legacy as a winner. If Harden can embrace this role fully and play off the dynamic talents of Kawhi Leonard, he could still be a pivotal piece in a championship puzzle.

14. Darius Garland

Darius Garland

2023-24 Season Statistics: 18.0 PPG, 2.7 RPG, 6.5 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.1 BPG

Darius Garland has developed into one of the most polished young point guards in the NBA. Despite having a down year compared to his usual standards, Garland’s ability to score from anywhere on the floor makes him a constant threat, but his evolution as a playmaker has truly elevated the Cleveland Cavaliers’ offense.

For Garland, the next step is establishing himself as a consistent closer in crunch-time situations to help out All-Star Donovan Mitchell. He’s shown flashes of brilliance in tight games, but as the Cavs aim to become a more formidable playoff team, Garland will need to be the engine that drives them in high-pressure moments.

15. LaMelo Ball

LaMelo Ball

2023-24 Season Statistics: 23.9 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 8.0 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.2 BPG

LaMelo Ball’s flair for the dramatic and his natural feel for the game make him one of the most exciting young guards in the league. He’s the heartbeat of the Charlotte Hornets’ offense, capable of taking over games with his unique blend of scoring and facilitating. However, he needs to be available after only appearing in 22 games in 2023-24.

For LaMelo, consistency and durability remain key areas for improvement. His outside shooting has shown promise, but it can still be streaky, and his defensive awareness is still catching up to his offensive genius. If he can become more efficient and stay healthy, there’s no reason why LaMelo can’t elevate both his own game and his team’s success to win more than 21 games next year.

16. Jrue Holiday

Jrue Holiday

2023-24 Season Statistics: 12.5 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 4.8 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.8 BPG

Jrue Holiday is widely regarded as one of the best two-way guards in the NBA. After winning an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics and a gold medal with Team USA in the Olympics, Holiday could be on a path to solidifying his place in the NBA Hall of Fame.

Holiday’s impact goes beyond the stat sheet; his leadership and calming presence are invaluable in a playoff setting. His ability to lock down opposing stars while still contributing 15-20 points a night makes him one of the most balanced guards in the league. As he returns to the Celtics alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, Holiday’s blend of defense, offense, and leadership could be the driving force behind another NBA title.

17. Fred VanVleet

Fred VanVleet

2023-24 Season Statistics: 17.4 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 8.1 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.8 BPG

Fred VanVleet is a quintessential example of hard work and determination paying off. Undrafted and undersized, VanVleet has worked his way up to become an All-Star-caliber player and one of the most reliable point guards in the league. His shooting range, coupled with his tenacity on both ends of the court, has made him a fan favorite and a leader wherever he plays.

With the Houston Rockets, VanVleet brings a winning mentality and a steady hand to a young team still trying to find its identity in a competitive Western Conference. As both a mentor to young stars like Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun, VanVleet’s role this season is as crucial as ever.

18. Cade Cunningham

Cade Cunningham

2023-24 Season Statistics: 22.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 7.5 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.4 BPG

Cade Cunningham’s potential as a star is undeniable, as he possesses the size, skill set, and intelligence that few point guards in the league can match. As the primary star for the Detroit Pistons, Cunningham has shown flashes of brilliance with his ability to read the game, score at all three levels, and defend multiple positions.

Cunningham seems ready to take that next step as a bonafide All-Star because his numbers scream that. The point guard is playing on arguably the worst team in the NBA right now and that won’t help his case, but we can’t knock what Cunningham is doing on an individual level.

19. Dejounte Murray

Dejounte Murray - New Orleans Pelicans

2023-24 Season Statistics: 22.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 6.4 APG, 1.4 SPG, 0.3 BPG

Dejounte Murray is starting a new chapter with the New Orleans Pelicans and hopes to be a missing piece behind a team with playoff hopes. Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram have their own issues when it comes to availability and consistency on the court, but Murray’s presence as a two-way guard could be useful to them.

Throwing in names like CJ McCollum and Herb Jones, the Pelicans look to be a problem in the West next season. Murray needs to become an All-NBA Defensive-caliber guard again to make a difference in 2024-25 because the Pelicans will aim towards having a top-five defense in the league with the talent they have.

20. Bradley Beal

Bradley Beal

2023-24 Season Statistics: 18.2 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 5.0 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.5 BPG

Bradley Beal has transitioned into a new chapter with the Phoenix Suns, where his role alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant will test his adaptability and willingness to share the spotlight. So far, Beal hasn’t answered that call because his impact on the team simply wasn’t there.

This upcoming season is about showing he can excel as a complementary star—thriving off the ball, embracing defensive duties, and providing leadership. If Beal can embrace this new role, he might just find himself playing meaningful games deep into the playoffs as the team’s point guard.

21. Coby White

Proposed Trade Sends Bulls Guard Coby White To The Celtics

2023-24 Season Statistics: 19.1 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 5.1 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.2 BPG

Once a streaky shooter who was inconsistent on both ends, Coby White has refined his game to become a more well-rounded guard capable of leading an offense or providing a scoring punch whenever needed.

Finishing second in the Most Improved Player race last season, White’s quickness allows him to penetrate defenses effectively, and his improved three-point shooting has made him a more reliable option in the half-court. White’s development has been critical in keeping the Bulls competitive amid roster changes.

22. D’Angelo Russell

D'Angelo Russell Lauds JJ Redick's Coaching Through Training Camp

2023-24 Season Statistics: 18.0 PPG, 3.1 RPG, 6.3 APG, 0.9 SPG, 0.5 BPG

D’Angelo Russell is one of the NBA’s most enigmatic talents. A former All-Star, Russell’s career has seen many ups and downs as he has moved across several teams and his second stint with the Lakers is an example of that. Russell played well in the regular season but saw his numbers fall in the playoffs to 14.2 points and 4.2 assists per game.

In 2024-25, Russell will be in a pivotal year. With the Lakers contending in a highly competitive Western Conference, his play will need to complement the leadership of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, if the inconsistencies persist, his future in LA could be uncertain since he is an upcoming free agent.

23. Immanuel Quickley

Immanuel Quickley

2023-24 Season Statistics: 17.0 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 4.9 APG, 0.7 SPG, 0.1 BPG

Immanuel Quickley has steadily emerged as a starting-caliber point guard. His ability to knock down threes, create off the dribble, and defend multiple positions will make him a key part of the rebuilding Toronto Raptors.

The 2024-25 season could be a breakout year for Quickley, particularly if he continues to show growth in his ability to run the offense and distribute the basketball. After posting 17.0 points per game last season, Quickley is hoping to break 20 points per game and looking at the fact he is a top three option on the team, that could be very possible.

24. Josh Giddey

Josh Giddey - Chicago Bulls

2023-24 Season Statistics: 12.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 4.8 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.6 BPG

Standing at 6’8″, Josh Giddey’s size for a point guard allows him to see over defenses, making pinpoint passes and setting up his teammates effectively. Even if the Oklahoma City Thunder were happy to move on from him this summer, Giddey’s creativity and poise have made him a fan favorite, and his ceiling seems incredibly high.

To fully realize his potential, Giddey will need to continue developing his shooting consistency, particularly from three-point range (33.7%). If he can add a reliable perimeter shot to his game, he will become one of the most well-rounded young guards in the league. The Chicago Bulls are hoping Giddey reaches maturity sooner rather than later to prevent a very long rebuild process.

25. Keyonte George

Keyonte George

2023-24 Season Statistics: 13.0 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 4.4 APG, 0.5 SPG, 0.1 BPG

Keyonte George returns next season with high expectations, and he has quickly proven he belongs among the top young guards in the league. George brings a potent mix of scoring ability, athleticism, and defensive intensity. His skill set is tailor-made for the modern NBA, with the ability to create his own shot, score from deep, and make plays for others.

While his journey is just beginning, early signs suggest that he could develop into a primary ball-handler and offensive engine for the Jazz. Utah seems intrigued with the possibility of George having a breakout season alongside All-Star Lauri Markkanen, so we will wait and see the results of the 2024-25 NBA season over the first few months.
