LeBron James On What The Lakers Expect From Russell Westbrook: “We Need Russ To Be Russ.”

Russell Westbrook landing in Los Angeles was one of the biggest moves of the 2021 NBA offseason. The point guard joined the Lakers as part of a blockbuster trade that sent Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and a first-round pick to the Washington Wizards, forming a new Big 3 in the league alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

This move was terrific for the Lakers, but not everybody is convinced that Brodie is the right piece for the team. However, the 2017 NBA MVP is ready to help this team win the championship next year, no matter what it takes.

LeBron James can’t wait to play with Brodie and co., regardless of what fans have to say about the team’s age. During the Lakers media day, James explained what the Lakers need from Westbrook and how he can fit with the team.

The King made it clear that Russell doesn’t need to change anything. They need the real Westbrook to win and nothing else.

“It’s all about putting the work in. I won’t talk about hypotheticals. We have a team looking forward to put in the work. We need Russ to be Russ. We don’t need Russ to change for anybody… be dynamic as he’s always been.”

LeBron:

This upcoming season will be an exciting one for the purple and gold. They failed to defend their championship last season, and after an offseason full of interesting moves, they are ready to bounce back and win the Larry O’Brien trophy.

Westbrook is a big addition to this team. If he can mesh with Bron and AD, the Lakers will have an easy route to the NBA Finals, where they can face the powerhouses Brooklyn Nets or Milwaukee Bucks.
