After Rajon Rondo Signing, Los Angeles Lakers Now Have 7 Career All-Stars, Tied For Most In NBA History With 1987 Celtics

2 Min Read

Rajon Rondo is once again back with the Los Angeles Lakers. Reports emerged yesterday that Rondo was returning to the Lakers after agreeing to a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Rondo becomes the second member of the 2019-20 Lakers to return to the franchise this offseason. Dwight Howard agreed to a minimum deal to join the Lakers once again. Rondo’s presence on the Lakers was missed last season.

Rondo is no longer the star he once was but is still a useful and potent contributor. Rondo can be trusted to lead the second unit’s offense during the game and is considered by many as a coach on the court.

The Lakers now have a veteran-heavy squad, with several of their players on minimum contracts. It is clear that the Lakers are relying a lot on their approach to the 2019-20 NBA season, where they had experienced players in the squad that helped with the NBA championship.

Currently, the Lakers are considered one of the favorites to win the title next season. The trio of Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James is going to be the focal point of the team.

The Lakers have assembled a solid squad. And despite not playing a single game yet, the team has already made history.

As pointed out by u/WalkWithElias on r/NBA, the Lakers have 7 career All-Stars in their team; LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Marc Gasol, and now Rajon Rondo.

The Lakers are now tied with the 1987 Boston Celtics for the most career All-Stars in a single squad for a season.

The complimentary stars in the team will play a crucial role in how the season goes for the Lakers. While Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, Marc Gasol, and Rajon Rondo are no longer superstars, they do have a lot of experience playing at the top level.
