Chris Paul is trying to win his first NBA championship this season. After 16 years, the point guard is closer to reaching that goal with the Phoenix Suns. The Arizonans lead the 2021 NBA Finals 1-0 against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The veteran has played at a great level during the playoffs, taking his team to this moment while having terrific performances. In Game 1 of the Finals, he dominated the Bucks, dropping 32 points, leading the way for the Suns.
Milwaukee must make adjustments if they want to stand a chance against CP3 and co. Recently, JJ Redick explained the deal with the playmaker and what Mike Budenholzer’s team can do to stop him (4:55).
“CP3 only has one move. When he gets a big on him, he’s gonna do the Lebron: gather, side-step, shoot. He doesn’t want to drive left ever even though he’s good enough,” Redick said on his ‘The Old Man and the Three’ podcast.
When Tommy Alter pointed out that Paul has been doing the same thing, Redick called him an ‘anomaly’ for doing something nobody else has done at this stage of their career.
“He’s an anomaly. There is nobody at his size that has done this at an all-NBA level into his mid-late 30s.”
Fans can say this isn’t a secret since CP3 has used the same move since always, but the worst part is that even if rivals know what he’s going to do, he always finds a way to get past them and get his bucket.
The Bucks have to figure this out and try to stop him before it’s too late. Game 2 of the Finals will take place tonight at 9 PM ET.
