Magic Johnson On LeBron James: “He’s Got One More Year To Be The Man. Then Kevin Durant Will Take Over.”

New York Post

At 36-years-old, LeBron James continues to be among the best players on the planet. In his 18th season, he was crucial for the Lakers, acting as a leader, playmaker, and scorer for the club and into the playoffs when Anthony Davis missed time with injury.

And while Bron will have a full offseason to rest and get his body right, Magic says next season will be his last as the best player on the planet.

“I think LeBron’s got one more year to be the man, and then it’s Kevin Durant’s league right after that,” Johnson said on Get Up. “I think Kevin Durant is the best scorer on this planet in the world. I think that, yes, now they’re running neck and neck. LeBron knows he’s got to come back and have a great year and his Lakers got to have a great year.

But let’s see what happens next season. LeBron… he can just do everything. He’s not going to give him his crown too easy of being the best player in the world.”

The fact is, LeBron James is already slowing down. He’s not the player he was in Miami or Cleveland and missed more time with injury in 2021 than he did in any other year.

At this stage of his career, we can’t expect LeBron to keep his status as the best in the world forever and with the way Kevin Durant has been playing, it looks like he’s ready to claim that title as his own.
