NBA Rumors: Atlanta Hawks Have Reportedly ‘Engaged’ In Trade Talks Regarding John Collins

3 Min Read

After a very bad 2019/20 NBA season, the Atlanta Hawks are finally competing in the East led by Trae Young. The guard has been on a tear this campaign, demonstrating he’s one of the future stars in the league. They had a very moved offseason, landing interesting players to bolster their level but that couldn’t be the end for them.

The Hawks have reportedly engaged in trade talks with at least two teams regarding one of their best players, who was expected to be Young’s partner in crime, John Collins. The big man has been surrounded by controversy recently, reportedly stating that the team’s offense should go through him and not Trae.

According to Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, the Hawks have started to listen to offers for the player.

Moreover, Sam Amick of The Athletic has reported that this situation is one that teams and fans need to pay attention to as it could get more interesting from now until the deadline arrives.

The John Collins situation in Atlanta will be worth watching as the deadline nears.

Despite the fact that he didn’t come to terms on an extension in the brief offseason, and that so many rival executives believe his NBA future will eventually be elsewhere as a result, there’s a complicating element that is coming into play: He’s a pivotal part of their team right now. And considering the widely-known reality that the playoffs are a massive priority for owner Tony Ressler & Co., that makes the prospect of trading Collins quite tricky.

No matter how much interest there might be.

A lot of teams would love to have this player with them but nobody knows where he will end up landing or if the Hawks will actually let him go. This situation will get better by the day and now fans have started to wonder where Collins is going to play next. This season, he’s averaging 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 25 games with Atlanta.
