Even after LaMelo was drafted as the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, LaVar Ball didn’t stop being LaVar Ball and NBA fans didn’t stop calling him out. As a matter of fact, the Ball family’s patriarch took his game to the next level when he tweeted something about his son, trying to make people think he had predicted that Melo was going to be drafted in the exact position he was called last night.
LaVar congratulated his youngest son on Twitter, ‘reminding’ people that he told them Melo was going to be drafted as No. 3 overall… Kinda. NBA Twitter wasn’t having any of that and decided to call Ball out because he had projected his son to be the first overall pick of this year’s draft. Anthony Edwards of Georgia was the one who received that honor, James Wiseman of Memphis was selected No. 2 by the Golden State Warriors before the Hornets pulled the trigger on Melo, one of the most interesting players of his class.
I TOLD YOU SO‼️ Proud of you @MELOD1P 💯 pic.twitter.com/ZLKRpokaO6

Fans didn’t take this kindly and they reminded LaVar he was selling something that never happened, something he’s done a lot in the past couple of years.
No you said he would go number 1 and you said the lakers will never win a championship with Lonzo 0 for 2 buddy you sure look mad when he was pick 3

No, you said all 3 boys. Should have stayed at UCLA and Gelo could have made it.
— Bill Cloutier (@BillCloutier) November 19, 2020
Nothing of what you said ever came true! Bro he was picked 3rd. Liangeo went undrafted. Lonzo got ran out of LA and they win right away. Your a joke! Good luck @MELOD1P no 🧢

There was a theory to the madness we once saw 😂 @Lavarbigballer Congrats sir as a proud father that succeeded in helping your kids dreams become reality! Shout out to Mama Ball as well. Ready to see them in action! #ballislife🏀

You told us a lotta lies but you did have two sons drafted in top 3 and a 3rd son hooping professionally. Most fathers couldn’t dream of that type of success. You aim for the stars but landed on the moon. Good for you big fella! Must be proud!
— Bradley Naedele (@bradnaedele) November 19, 2020
You also told us that @ZO2_ is gonna be the best but we out here with a European teen @luka7doncic being the Top 5 in his second year! Stay in yo lane 😂

MF really posted a pic of himself when it’s his son’s day. This should really tell all the “he got 3 sons in the league he’s a good father” people what’s really up
— Lincoln Truly (@LincolnTruly) November 19, 2020
So when the 1 on 1 vs MJ gonna happen? You know that's the only reason he drafted Lamelo. Once MJ get done with you, he gonna ask you to leave and take your boy with you.

just let your sons do the work, end dont let your mouth ruin themselves. I get it you are just trying to promote them, but sometimes its better you do it silently. let them flourish by themselves

People went from criticizing his pics, to say he predicted Melo was going to be the first pick of this draft and others reminded him that he tipped his three sons, Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo to be part of the league.
LaVar isn’t a fan favorite and seeing how things stand right now, he’ll never be one. Whenever they have the chance, NBA fans take a lot of shots at him and his kids. LaMelo appears to be the one getting more love/less hate but his father has the potential to change that in a second.
