Brian Windhorst: “Bogdan Bogdanovic Wants To Play For The Bucks… He Was In Contact With Giannis Antetokounmpo, This Is What He Wants, We’ll See What Happens.”

Bogdan Bogdanovic’s situation with the Milwaukee Bucks and Sacramento Kings is complex right now. The Serbian swingman appeared to be ready to join Milwaukee via sign-and-trade at the start of the offseason but now things are very different. Recent reports suggest the player never agreed to join the Bucks and that has created a problem for both franchises.

Everybody is wondering what is going to happen with Bogdanovic and his future in the league, with fans asking if he really wants to stay in a losing team like Sacramento or join Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday in Wisconsin and create a great starting five. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst recently discussed this situation, explaining that Bogdan wants to join Antetokounmpo and he was actually in contact with him during the past couple of days (1:22 mark).

“I’ve covered the NBA for 18 years, I’ve never seen a situation quite like this, and I’m gonna be honest with you I don’t know what’s gonna happen. Now, last year you may remember the NBA before we had COVID in our lives, created a whole bunch of crackdown rules on tampering, and this is the most obvious example of tampering in history because it’s 3 days before free agency.

“Now the problem is, is who’s filing the tampering charge? Because Sacramento’s like “Look, he (Bogdanović) is not gonna wanna play here anymore”. But the outcry from executives was crazy over the last 48 hours. So, there’s a whole bunch of people in the league who believe that this could be a machination, something to prevent the league from voiding this deal, by suddenly saying hey there’s no deal, and then by Sunday maybe we have a deal

“But Bogdan Bogdanović’s representation has been adamant that this is not agreed to, Bogdan himself has told people himself I’ll see what offers I get on Friday

“He wants to play for the Bucks okay? He was in contact with Giannis Antetokounmpo, this is what he wants, we’ll see what happens.”

The Bucks appeared to have a great starting five with Bogdanovic but now things have changed a little bit. They are willing to give up a lot to unlock negotiations with the player, something that will leave them with only seven players on the roster. They know Bogdan is a great addition for them, but at this moment nothing is certain for Milwaukee.

They have appeared to find their missing pieces in Holiday and Bogdanovic but the latter is making things harder for the team.
