NBA Rumors: Miami Heat Can Land Giannis Antetokounmpo In A Blockbuster Trade

Giannis Antetokounmpo is en route to being named MVP for the second straight season and, according to most oddsmakers, he’s also going to be named Defensive Player of the Year.

There’s absolutely no doubt that Giannis is one of the best, most talented, hardest-working, and most disruptive players in the league right now. He’s a franchise cornerstone every single team in the league would do everything on their power to possess.

That’s why the Milwaukee Bucks are going to offer him a record-breaking supermax contract extension this summer, and while some think he’s never going to leave Wisconsin – especially with that kind of money – some believe that he’s number one priority is winning an NBA Championship, not money.

In fact, Shandel Richardson of Sports Illustrated claimed that Giannis would only consider leaving the Bucks if they fail to win the NBA Championship this season, or at least, make it to the NBA Finals.

“Milwaukee is still considered likely to keep Antetokounmpo long term, but insiders cited the potential of the salary cap dropping both this offseason and in future years as a reason Giannis might take a wait-and-see approach,” Bontemps wrote. Still, the overriding belief is that whatever happens on the court will play the biggest role in his decision,” Richardson reported.

Then again, that doesn’t mean that other teams aren’t going to be quite aggressive in their pursuit of the Greek Freak. The Miami Heat have reportedly made Giannis their number one priority for the summer, and they could put together the ultimate trade package to pull that move off.

Honestly, it would be pretty tough for the Bucks to reject an offer consisting of Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Bam Adebayo, and Andre Iguodala. They would be getting two young, promising and potential franchise players, one of the best defenders in the league, and one of the best shooters we’ve seen in ages.

Add Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe, and Brook Lopez to the mix, and the Bucks could continue to be among the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

The Heat, on the other hand, would now have Goran Dragic (if they resign him), Kendrick Nunn, Jimmy Butler, and Giannis Antetokounmpo as their core going forward. They’d need to add a couple of shooters and that team would be one of the most dominant out of the East. Then again, that all depends on how the Bucks fare in the playoffs.
