Kings Announcer Resigns After Tweeting ‘All Lives Matter’ To DeMarcus Cousins

People and businesses from all over the country have spoken up on the “Black Lives Matter” movement. In light of the death of George Floyd, protests have sprung in almost every major city — some of them peaceful, some of them violent.

And while the destruction some of the more damaging riots have caused is problematic, their cause remains just.

Equality and justice should be values everyone stands for but, still, some fail to understand the true meaning of the “BLM” movement. In the case of former Kings announcer Grant Napear, that “misunderstanding” cost him his job.

It all started for Napear after he delivered some heavy and extremely harsh criticism to DeMarcus Cousins back in June of 2019.

Even @Matt_Barnes22 thinks this rant is intense. 😳 pic.twitter.com/RIP7aPuGYq

In an attempt to bait the announcer, Cousins asked him to share his thoughts on the BLM movement, to which Mr. Napear was happy to oblige.

The point of BLM isn’t to say that only black lives matter. Rather, it’s simply saying that black lives should matter just as much as everyone else’s.

In times like these, where the Black community deals with oppression, it’s important to not only hear what they’re saying but sympathize with the cause. Equal rights and civil justice should value everyone holds dear.

Grant Napear may believe that, but his words didn’t necessarily express it — which is why the Kings had no choice but to let him go.

Looks like DeMarcus won that one.
