Hip-hop and basketball have a great relationship, but that doesn’t mean the players and musicians always get along. Two greats in those respective fields, Kanye West and Shaquille O’Neal exemplify that. The pair have traded harsh words before, and Shaq has taken another shot at Kanye via comments on Instagram about seeing West at the Super Bowl.
“Who cares? stop b***hin and snitchin. I know you saw me at the Super Bowl, I was waiting for you to say something smart. Man up. Nobody wanna see you crying. Man up, little boy.”

The beef between the pair started in 2022 when Kanye criticized Shaq along with Amar’e Stoudemire for being harsh on Kyrie Irving when Irving was in trouble for sharing an anti-Semitic movie on Twitter (now X). The X posts where Kanye called Shaq out have since been deleted but he posted a headline where Shaq calls Kyrie an ‘idiot’ by saying that the media and powers that be are pinning African Americans against each other.
Kanye also called out Jamie Salter, a business partner of Shaq which West used to further attack the three-time Finals MVP. Given Kanye named Salter in his most recent comment as well, it’s clear Shaq isn’t happy with West’s repeated attacks on individuals he thinks have wronged him.
Shaquille O’Neal Has Ruthlessly Responded To Kanye Before
After Kanye’s initial comments about Shaq and his business relationship with Jamie Salter, O’Neal went off on social media and told Kanye to worry about himself. He also brought up Kanye’s diminishing financial situation in the heat of controversy at the time along with his troubling family life.
“Believe me, you don’t know me like that. Worry about your business, and to quote the once great Kanye West, ‘I got more money than you, so why would I listen to you?’ Take my advice, and get your family business in order. Have a great day brother.”
O’Neal seemed to have gotten the final word in this rivalry soon after the initial interaction. He spoke at length about West and his narcissism, as he continues to blame everyone but himself for his downfall.
“I’m not going all that back-and-forth. I say something, he say something then he continued to say something then I heard the word ‘narcissist.’ I looked it up and I was like, ‘Oh s**t, that was me.’ This is why things are going crazy for him cause look how he acts. I used to act like that. “I can call him that ’cause that was once me, but I’m out of there. … I’m humbled now. You can’t be arrogant. When you’re arrogant, you lose everything. Then, when you lose everything, you wanna blame it on people. “You wanna blame it on Jay-Z, the person that helped you get there? You wanna blame it on Beyonce, who never messes with anybody? You wanna blame it on me? I don’t even know you like that, homie!”
Shaq’s latest comment could lead to more sparks flying if Kanye chooses to respond. Given Kanye is currently promoting his latest album ‘VULTURES’, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear the 24-time Grammy Award winner talk about it.
