• Draymond Green has spilled the beans on how he looked at Chris Paul before the Warriors traded for him
• Green said he ‘hated’ Chris Paul
• The teammates will now look to bring another championship to Golden State
Draymond Green has gotten real about his feelings about Chris Paul joining the Golden State Warriors. He admitted he used to hate Paul and didn’t like the trade the team made to acquire him, but he reiterated that he never said no to having Paul but it wasn’t necessarily who he had in mind.
“11! I hated him. 11. But I think that’s also a sign of respect. And I’ll be honest, I wasn’t the most thrilled initially… I definitely didn’t say no.”
Interviewer: "[On a scale of] 1 to 10, what did you feel about [Chris Paul]?"

Green and Paul have had an acrimonious relationship, given how Paul was one of the biggest competitors to the Warriors in the Western Conference. After failing to win a title at various other stops in his career, Paul will be hoping to join the winning machine of the Warriors and retire with a championship ring.
How Does Chris Paul Fit Into The Warriors’ Lineup?
Adding another guard on the roster when the frontcourt could have used reinforcement was a choice that the Warriors made. They did need a backup guard behind Curry, who’ll run the second unit, but it seems the Warriors will likely start Chris Paul.
Paul can be best used alongside the bench of the Warriors, who played extremely disorganized basketball last season. Jordan Poole was a microwave scorer, but he wasn’t a floor general like Paul. The likes of Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody will benefit from Paul’s playmaking off the bench.
Paul can’t start over Curry or Klay Thompson, so it’ll be interesting to see how the Warriors operate. Do they move Kevon Looney to the bench and run a lineup with Curry, CP3, Klay, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond? That could be a high-risk, high-reward decision.
Can Chris Paul Still Win A Championship?
The only thing Paul has been chasing for over a decade is winning an NBA championship. He’s come close multiple times but has never been able to push through and earn the ring. He averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists for the Suns last season, having a clearly unremarkable season, which proves he doesn’t have a lot of production left in the tank.
His playmaking could make this Warriors’ offense even more potent, as they have never had a floor general like Paul before. Hopefully, the Warriors realize it’s best for Paul to play staggered minutes with the bench and try to generate the maximum he can from them. It won’t be easy, but he could be a massive boost to them.
It’s now or never for Paul, as the Warriors won’t go into the season as prohibitive favorites. If he fits in with the Warriors, the potential in this season is limitless.
