  • Lonzo Ball will miss the entirety of the 2023-24 season
  • The point guard revealed that it’s going to “be a long process”
  • Ball has consistently dealt with knee injuries

When he’s healthy, Lonzo Ball is a versatile young point guard that is capable of playing a complementary role next to any superstar in the league. Ball is good at passing, shooting, and rebounding, and his skillset means he doesn’t need to be ball-dominant to be effective.

Earlier this summer, the Chicago Bulls were granted a $10.2 million disabled player exception due to Lonzo Ball’s injury. The knee injury was expected to keep him out for the whole 2023-24 season, and recently, Lonzo Ball confirmed that he will be out all of next year for the Chicago Bulls.

“Just taking it day by day. I just had a really big surgery, hopefully, the last one I ever have to get. It’s going to be a long process, I’m already out this whole next season.”

There is no doubt that this is an unfortunate development for the Chicago Bulls. Lonzo Ball looked like a promising 3 and D point guard when he last played, but as of right now, it seems as though his whole career is at risk due to injuries.

During the 2021-22 season with the Chicago Bulls, Lonzo Ball averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 42.3% from 3PT range. Hopefully, we see him get back to his best in the future after he recovers from all of his knee injuries.

Alex Caruso Just Wants Lonzo Ball To Be Able To Play Basketball Again

At this point, the goal for Lonzo Ball is to simply be able to step on an NBA court once again. We’ve seen a lot of players give up after receiving injury after injury, but some end up persevering. Ball’s teammate Alex Caruso previously suggested that the hope is simply for Lonzo Ball to play basketball again.

“You can’t really force anything when it comes to injuries, right? The body has to heal, and then you can get back out there and play. This is one of those things where it’s been healing, and then I think there’s been setbacks. He’s trying to get back to healing again. For his sake, I hope he can just play basketball again.”

It remains to be seen how Lonzo Ball will look once he recovers from injury. Hopefully, he can still be a solid player and contribute to winning at a high level in the future.
