  • Golden State gets picked as “America’s team” in light of recent success
  • Warriors have built one of the NBA’s biggest fanbases
  • Kevin Durant era was the peak of the hate for the Warriors

Early on in their existence, the Golden State Warriors were struggling to find success, but today, they’ve become one of the most well-known and highly accomplished organizations of the modern NBA era.

The turnaround is all thanks to Stephen Curry, who has transformed the Warriors and the NBA as a whole. And no matter how you feel about the 2x MVP, the Warriors brand has become almost transcendent beyond the game itself.

“I feel like it’s a lot of Warriors fans. I don’t see a lot of Golden State haters,” said former NBA guard Jared Harper on the ‘Tidal Leaue’ podcast. “I don’t see a lot of Golden State haters… other than when [Kevin Durant] was there.”

When you think of “America’s” team, it describes an organization that is popular, consistently competitive, and a regular attraction for the NBA’s top stars. The Warriors fit all of those criteria thanks mainly to the brilliance of Stephen Curry, who helped lead the way to four championships for the Dubs.

Of course, there are other contenders as well. Anyone in Los Angeles will claim the Lakers as America’s team, and they’d have a cold case with all the history that franchise has built up over the decades.

But when you talk about modern success and overall impact, the Warriors have to be considered at the top, and it’s why they’ve built up quite a large following over the years.

Is The Warriors Dynasty Over?

After losing in the Conference Semis this past summer, the jury is still out on if the Warriors can win another title before the Steph Curry era comes to a close. As the core ages, it will get harder to stay on top, and there is a sense that the best days may be behind the Warriors at this point.

Whatever the case, the Dubs aren’t ready to give up yet, and you can bet they’ll be fighting to keep their title hopes alive. As America’s team, many will be rooting them on, but it remains to be seen how much longer they’ll ride the wave of prosperity.
