LeBron James’ son Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday. The USC All-American star was rushed to the hospital and is now out of danger.
James was scared and devastated regarding his son’s health condition. NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith believes the King would have retired from the league if something worse had happened to Bronny James. The veteran analyst believes it would have been similar to how Michael Jordan retired after his father passed away in 1993.
“Let me say this: god forbid something worse had happened to Bronny James,” Smith said. “I just want to take a moment to say, ‘Y’all do know that LeBron James’ career would have ended, right? Y’all do know that, right?’ Think back to Michael Jordan and when he retired. He ultimately came back … Y’all do know it was in the aftermath of his daddy being killed in North Carolina, right?”

Michael Jordan’s father was a huge support system for him. When James Jordan was shot dead in 1993, it was simply too much for Michael Jordan. He retired from the league in 1993 and returned in 1995.
James would have been devastated if something much worse would have happened to his son. As Smith, it would have been no surprise had James hung up his sneakers for good.

Bronny James is still just 18 years old, and he was aiming for his freshman year at USC. However, due to suffering a cardiac arrest, there is no surety Bronny will be able to play basketball again.
Regardless of what the future has in store for Bronny, James is just glad that his son is healthy again. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar expressed his gratitude to fans for showing unwavering support over the last few days.
“I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers,” James wrote in a tweet. “We feel you, and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love.

As for James, he’s already training for the 2023-24 NBA campaign. Last season, LeBron averaged 28.9 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 6.8 APG. Can he maintain the same level of performance in Year 21? We will have to wait and find out.
