Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen were two of the greatest players in the 1990s. With Michael Jordan taking the top spot, both Pippen and Barkley were able to gain fans and made an argument for themselves being the second-best player in the league during the decade. But who do fans think was a better player between the two?

NBA fans took to Reddit to debate over this. Most fans pointed out that while Scottie Pippen has the better resume in terms of accomplishments, Barkley was the better player between the two. They also pointed to the fact that Barkley was always the best player on his team, whereas Pippen could only claim that when MJ was not on the Bulls.

NBA fans clearly respect Barkley’s game and individual performances, even though he wasn’t able to translate that into championship success. As for Pippen, fans saw that when he was made responsible for leading the Chicago Bulls, he was not able to have the same success that he had with Michael Jordan.

Charles Barkley Was An Incredible Player In His Prime

Many fans often forget how great a player Barkley was during his prime years. Because Barkley wasn’t able to find championship success in his career, fans are quick to overlook his incredible performances and individual accolades.

Barkley was an 11-time All-Star and the 1993 MVP during his time in the NBA. Barkley also made an All-NBA team 10 times in his career, including 5 All-NBA first team selections.

As for Pippen, while he never won an MVP, he was a 6-time NBA champion, and a 7-time NBA All-Star, who also made the All-NBA teams 7 times, and All-Defensive teams 10 times, with 3 All-NBA first team and 8 All-Defensive first team selections.

Additionally, it should be noted that Barkley was able to lead the Phoenix Suns to the 1993 NBA Finals as the lone All-Star on the squad. On top of that, it took both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen at their best to stop Barkley from winning.

Barkley could be considered one of the greatest power forwards in NBA history. Recently, he dismissed himself from being the greatest ever at that position, giving that honor to Tim Duncan. Despite his incredible accomplishments, Barkley is also one of the most humble and giving players in NBA history.
