Charles Barkley has been a regular fixture on television since he retired from the NBA. He was one of the greatest players ever to play the game, and his legend has only grown thanks to his second career.

Barkley’s trademark honesty is what makes him so endearing to people, he doesn’t care what others have to say about his opinions. And he’s not afraid to make statements that some may not like, as he has shown again with his support of the LGBTQ+ community.

With a drink in his hand, Charles Barkley said, “I want y’all to drink this f**king beer. I got three cases of Bud Light. And I want to say this. If you’re gay, bless you. If you’re transgender, bless you. And if you have a problem with that, f**k you!”

This is a sensitive topic, sports, in particular, have a long history of cultivating environments that are not friendly for people that are queer. That someone like Charles Barkley is so openly supportive of the community is a true example of standing up for your beliefs, no matter who disagrees.

The former NBA superstar has spoken out on this issue many times in the past. There was a time when he questioned the homophobia within the black community, suggesting that he was disappointed with that aspect of the culture. And he has been known to send messages like this via public platforms in the past as well.

Charles Barkley Expressed His Love For Gay And Transgender People Exactly One Year Ago

It’s not easy to say something that might result in a lot of hate. People of different sexual orientations have often been discriminated against throughout history, and it’s something that continues to this day. Barkley seems to be willing to fight for as long as it takes though, having sent a similar message exactly a year ago.

“If you are gay or transgender, I love you. And if anybody gives you sh*t, you tell em Charles says ‘f**k you!’”

The NBA has always been strong in its support of social causes, although they are occasionally accused of hypocrisy in terms of which causes they choose to endorse.

This doesn’t have much to do with the league though, this is just Barkley using his platform to spread a message he believes in. Whether someone agrees with him or not, it’s hard not to commend his constant commitment to speaking his mind without fear or hesitation.
