Victor Wembanyama Is Tired Of NBA Media: “I’m Probably Gonna Disappear From The Media For The Next Few Months”

Victor Wembanyama has been through the brutality of NBA media and is looking to take a few months off before the start of his rookie campaign.

Victor Wembanyama has been thrown right into the deep end with what it means to be a superstar in the NBA. He had an off-court scandal with Britney Spears while being called a generational bust because of a dismal debut for the Spurs in Summer League.

After explaining what he plans to do after Summer League is over, Wembanyama let everyone know that he thinks the next few months will be life-changing for him, as he will disappear from the media.

“As I’m not playing in the World Cup, I got two or three great months that are coming and they’re gonna change my life. I’m probably gonna disappear from the media for the next [few] months, honestly.”

Wembanyama had a dominant game against the Portland Trail Blazers tonight and is projected to be a near-guaranteed defensive superstar in the NBA. Even if his offensive struggles are amplified in the face of tougher NBA competition, it seems his defense will be hard to overcome. Jerry West called him a bigger Bill Russell, which could arguably be the greatest compliment for a defensive prospect.

Victor Wembanyama Going Zero Dark Thirty

‘Zero Dark Thirty’ is what LeBron James used to do ahead of deep playoff runs, as he goes completely away from social media to keep himself focused on basketball. Wembanyama is going to be highly scrutinized for the 82 games of his rookie regular season, so he needs to be in a mindset where he can deal with that. At the end of it all, he’s a 19-year-old that needs to show maturity beyond his years to live up to his potential.

Hopefully, the time off serves Wembanyama well. He dropped out of the FIBA World Cup to prepare for his rookie season, so it seems he’s completely determined to make his mark in the NBA as soon as possible. Summer League is a nice preview for fans before Wembanyama takes the floor against the best in the NBA.
