Even winning a championship couldn’t keep Jordan Poole from getting the boot with the Warriors. After a stellar season with the Dubs, and a shiny new extension to show for it, Poole’s performance took a major hit and he was borderline unplayable in the postseason when the Warriors lost in 6 to the LA Lakers.

Thanks to their disappointing run, and the pre-season incident with Draymond Green, Poole was the perfect scapegoat for the Warriors and he was quickly kicked from the team in favor of veteran point guard Chris Paul. As a Wizards, Poole reflected on his time in San Francisco but refused shed some light on where it all went wrong.

“We’re in Washington now. Playing with Kuz. Great duo. Being able to flourish and expand your game. It’s a new team, leading an entire group of guys and it’s a challenge we’re up for.  We got a new front office and a lot of people that’s invested. Everybody is locked-in and wants to be here to do something special.”

Poole looked less than thrilled to be repping his new team, but it’s hard to blame the guy for harboring some resentment for how everything went down in Golden State. Had things played out differently, it might have been him still there instead of Draymond.

Why Was Poole Really Traded From The Warriors?

Of course, there’s more to the Poole story than his rift with Draymond. Apparently, he also clashed with head coach Steve Kerr and it may have been the final nail in the coffin for his Warriors tenure.

“I honestly think the relationship between him (Jordan Poole) and Steve was more of what got him traded than the relationship with him and Draymond Green,” said Warriors insider Jason Dumas. “I just think Steve was kind of fed up with the fact that Jordan was kind of huffing and puffing that he wasn’t in the right role for him”.

Needless to say, Jordan will have the ultimate green light in Washington to take his shots and re-invent his game. Along the way, if he’s able to find success with Kuzma, it could prove all the doubters wrong once and for all.
