There’s no doubt that among the NBA fanbase, we often see a lot of social media hate and criticism toward players. A lot of people tend to debate players’ merits against one another, using a variety of criteria.
It seems as though some players are not happy with the way fans view the game. Kevin Durant recently joined a Twitter Spaces that stated he was not a top 5 player, and roasted fans within, saying that the way they consume the game “is trash”.
“How y’all even look at the game is whack as f*ck… You factor in team success when you talk about players. I just think how y’all consume the game is trash. Are you good or not? Some things can be that simple… A lot of people have seen it for a long time… It’s okay. These lists mean nothing anyway.”
KD really hopped into a Twitter Spaces called "Kevin Durant is not top 5" 😅

There is no doubt that Kevin Durant is done with the way that fans consistently criticize the game, and try to create lists of players. At some point, it’s about simply appreciating what each player brings to the table, and enjoying their talent on the basketball court.
During the 2022-23 regular season, Kevin Durant put up 29.1 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 5.0 APG. He also shot 40.4% from the 3PT range, and he is quite clearly still a superstar-level player who can lead a team to the championship.
Kevin Durant Roasted Youtuber Legend Of Winning Prior To Entering The Twitter Spaces
Ahead of entering the Twitter Spaces about his top 5 status, Kevin Durant roasted the person hosting them, the Youtuber Legend of Winning. He claimed that Legend of Winning was jealous of him, noting that it was “funny and sad at the same time”.
“Dudes who don’t even come close to being good at anything be jealous of the real playas. Shit be funny and sad at the same time”
There is no doubt that Kevin Durant is a player that is consistently willing to engage in debate with fans and speak his mind in an unfiltered manner. Though this was clearly an insult, it is clear that Durant was willing to clarify himself via direct contact with fans, which is more than what a lot of other players would have done.
