Ja Morant is once again the talk of the town around the NBA. The Memphis Grizzlies superstar received a big suspension from the league after his second gun scandal.

After he was suspended for flashing a gun on social media, Morant made the same decision and somebody shared his actions with the world, causing him a lot of trouble. However, in an attempt to show his close ones that he wasn’t doing anything wrong or illegal, Morant recorded himself holding a toy gun one day after the infamous Instagram Live clip went viral.

The video shows Morant’s arm (identified by his tattoos) as he holds the gun, which turns out to be a lighter. He even lights a candle to confirm that this is just a gadget, not an actual gun.

“You hold it, and everything comes out,” he says while doing the explanation.

Morant’s camp reportedly claimed that the gun was just a toy a couple of weeks ago. NBA fans didn’t buy this story, but Ja’s video appears to confirm what they all said in the wake of this incident.

This explanation didn’t stop the Grizzlies from suspending Morant from all team activities, and the NBA to punish him for his second gun incident, regardless of if the gun was real or not.

Ja Morant Has Been Suspended For 25 Games

The league announced on Friday that Ja will be suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 NBA season, meaning he could make his debut in December. This, however, will depend on if he meets some conditions the league imposed.

The player released a statement vowing to do better after this incident, apologizing to the league and the fans, especially the kids who look up to him. Ja received support from Nike, as the company stated they’re not cutting ties with the player, as well as the NBPA. They condemned the decision and announced they will find ways for Ja to improve this situation.

After the first incident, Ja was already in trouble. The second time, the point guard worsened his situation, and now will be harder for him to earn the trust of the league and the fans again.
