Ja Morant found himself amidst a lot of controversy following his second gun-flashing incident. The Memphis Grizzlies superstar is awaiting his punishment from the league following the controversy.

Following NBA Commissioner Adam Silver’s revelation about Morant receiving the verdict on his suspension after the finals, the Grizzlies superstar’s camp made a terrible excuse that the firearm in the video was a toy.

NBA fans on Twitter weren’t convinced at all by Morant’s team’s claim. In fact, they trolled them for making up such a ridiculous excuse.

A fan trolled his PR team’s inability to come up with a better answer.

A fan claimed Morant carrying a toy gun is worse.

A fan urged the NBA to add 20 more games to his suspension for coming up with the lame excuse.

Another fan labeled it as the sorriest excuse.

A fan thinks it was a desperate attempt by Morant’s team to protect his image.

To be honest, even if what Morant’s team claimed is true, it’s certainly a surprising turn of events.

Either way, it feels like the NBA has made up its mind to hand a lengthy suspension to Morant. After all, the league will try to make an example out of the 23-year-old.

How Many Games Will Ja Morant Be Suspended?

For his first offense, Morant was handed an eight-game suspension by the NBA. The Grizzlies superstar vowed to never repeat his actions. It took him all but two months to backtrack on his promise.

Keeping that in mind, many in the NBA community want Adam Silver to give a stricter punishment to him. It was recently reported that Morant could miss the first half of the 2023-24 regular season.

“League sources have told Hoops Wire they believe Morant will be suspended for no less than the first half of the regular season.”

However, a concrete decision is yet to be made. As of now, even Morant hasn’t been informed about the length of his suspension.

Everything will be clear once the 2023 NBA Finals are wrapped up. The series is currently tied at 1-1 between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.
